My tool collection has grown past my current setup and storage capacity. I have also been thinking about redoing my work flow and Timothy Wilmots System workshop fit the bill. So I have begun adapting it to my workshop. First up is my workbench and adding a mitersaw station. I am currently about 85% complete. I have to make the top drawers and get the timber this weekend for the front dog/clamping system. Hope you enjoy. Cabinets are next.

Looks nice. Sometime in the near future I’m going to try and add my systainer in some existing garage cabinets. Unfortunately they are cheaply made.

Those look really nice.  Quite a transformation.  I like the drawer bottoms.  Had seen Timothy’s videos but never noticed the details in design.

Looking forward to seeing more as you progress.

At some point, first will be the tall systainer floor cabinets. Going to do two pods with a work surface in between. Then put wood storage cubbies behind them.

Very nice, clean and well organized. Are you going to add a extension fence to the miter saw?

Yes. I just purchased the dominofix jig and will add a 20mm grid. Then use the holes to set up a grid. I’m eying those new RUWI hold downs for rail.

Busy weekend but I managed to get, mill up some ash, and machine the grooves for the t-track.

Thanks! It is just cheap engineered flooring. Because its in the basement, when I finished the room, I wired it as a "media room" that so happened to have 220V... its a slick when it gets alot of dust on it from the table saw. However, it makes for super easy clean up and is a nice thermal break from the concrete.

Formica plant is in Cincinnati. My wife's father worked there and I just picked it up.

Been working on the vertical work hold down/dog rails:

Made a jig to accurately/repeatably index the domino for the dog supports:

I made a jig for the making repeatable thru mortises with the domino as the 500 will not reach thru in one pass. I used the front dog slots to index on the jig. Then use the Domino to mortise from both sides.







It was really nice outside so I had a cold one.

Minor detour side project...Installed shop dust collection. Oneida V3000. Tomorrow I will install the ivac auto switch for the table saw. Came out pretty well. The floor sweep is amazing! It took about 2 hrs to assemble the unit and 3-4 hrs to fab the wall brackets and do all the duct work.

Back to the syscabinet tool wall build!

Ducting was sourced thru Oneida (24ga spiral duct) with unions from Rockler. Both have similar costs but I went with Oneida because shipping was marginal when buying the system. The floor sweep is super fun to use. It sucks dirt from like 6 inches from the opening.

Amazed at how much it warped after install (fisheye shot)! How did you get it all straightened out again?

I use the fastcap speed roller.

Thanks! I have since ditched the spray opting for the gallon bucket of the 3m adhesive. I found it was much easier just to roll it than spray. Coverage was not too bad with the can because the nozzle was adjustable. just a pain after it starts getting low or the nozzle gets clogged.

 

Great job and the shop is coming along nice!  I used to have a steel Oneida V3000 and it was excellent.  I have read that the conductive plastic models are supposed to be quieter.  Keep the pics coming.

It is surprisingly quite. One reason why I opted for this one. This past week I added the ivac pro contactor kit and added an inductance switch on the tablesaw for auto start. Works like a charm.

Nice installation for the dust collector.  It looks like the V3000 can be mounted lower (my clearance is about 7 feet).  How high is your ceiling?

Yep pretty much. Base with the cabinets, no casters, and screwed it to the lumber racking behind it. I did have to make a spacer because it was two lower cabinets.

My ceiling height is 89”. You could probably get away with 86-87 if you cut a little bit out of the vacuum tube between the collector and bin. You need one inch clearance from ceiling. Went with the wall mount so I could adjust the setup a bit more.

Quick tip if you do get one, install motor/fan on inlet section before installing the inlet section. You will also need the ivac pro contactor version if you want tool activated dust collection.
