I have researched this topic for a few months myself, and I've started settling in one boom arms for the photography industry.  That one I linked to seems like a great price point, and it's fairly large - full extension seems to be 49."  There are others out there that are beefier and larger.  These seem like a wonderful alternative that haven't been researched much yet.

One review I saw had the Boom Arm mounted separately from the CT which is an interesting approach.

I posted this in another section but Wood Magazine(July 2022) has a Boom Arm build.  It looks interesting
