Rolling Festool Transit

Thought I´d start to share some of my work in progress far up north in Norway.

Got my new Transit 4x4 about 2 months ago, and finnaly started to build racking for it.
Its gonna be 6 custom drawers under the racking to support the wheight.
Havent worked out exactly how yet, but the Kapex, cs50 and mft in the front.

Got my mini into the rack to. CTL 26 also going in the opposite rack.

Now waiting for the CTL, Vecturo, Rotex 150, TSC 55 REB, DRC 18, BHC 18, 2 x Syslite and lots of systainers.

Although it looks very nice and neat but Festool doesn't recommend the SYS-AZ drawer slides to be mounted in a vehicle!
And the maximum load is 20 kg.
But you must have read that already in the manual.

I wonder if it becomes an issue you could simply create some kind of flip-stop that harnesses along the vertical each bank of drawers to deal with the drawers tending to slide out while in motion.  Seen people do similar in the past for mobile drawers setups.

Keep it coming.  Looks like a nice job so far.

I am well aware that its not recommended, but it works great. They are thight and wont come out. As you probably know, you have to lift the green handle to pull them. In a crash its another story, but hopefully I´l never find out.
If they cant handle the weight over thime, i just replace them with fixed shelves:)

Have to get most of the structure done before the beginning of januar, then i can add things here and there along the way.

Any suggestions on where to but the 2700 guiderail?

Used scrap from oak countertop to make rails. I let the Kapex do all the work;)

How did you end up fastening the shelves to the van walls? I'm asking as I haven't got to that sat age yet on my build and I'm looking for ideas that will survive the rigours of a moving vehicle over time.

40x40mm L-brackets and self-drilling screws. Used that on my previous build, and never had problems so far.

Its comming along. Got my scissor jack´s and floodlight mounted. I also put in the sortainers on fixed shelves.

The build is looking good Jostein! I feel like a slug compared to what you've achieved so far!

I've had my Promaster since December 15th and all I've done is the floor. I have a decent sized shop but I can't bring my van inside so all upfit work has to happen outside in the cold...its -10 Celsius outside right now and the forecast shows in the next couple of days it supposed to go down to -20C (with a possible windchill of -28 Celsius). Brrrr....!

I plan on using the AZ shelfs in my van. They wont withstand a crash and im sure festools lawyers made the put that in there because they knew most of us would put them in our vans! But honestly, in a crash im not sure anyones racking system would withstand it! As long as you have a quality headache rack, you will be alright in a wreck, your tools may not but you will atleast be ok!

Some pictures taken this spring. The first employee got the van, and I got myself a new VW T6. Now i start all over again.
That said, this layour have been working great so far. Got a wokshop now, so i wont need all the tools in the van all the time. That factor and having aut.trans led me to VW. This time I´m making racking simular to Ron Paulk´s design. Its modular and easy to move drawers around as i go.







Maby this can help some of you to deciding where to put your tools.
