Hey All,

Sharing some cool news for me, with a thanks for all the inspiration I've gotten from FOG!

I often mention Faztek when people are discussing 80/20, because they are not the only supply of aluminium extrusion. And I'll be completely clear, I have no financial interested in this company. I recommend them because they have great service, and they are often cheaper that 80/20, because you're not paying for the brand!

Anyway, they are relaunching Faztek to broaden their focus beyond industrial safety. As part of this they have launched a new website, and little old me has been heavily featured in their project areas (https://faztek.net/garage-systems.html)

:)

Check it out!!!

Thanks! Yeah I get that comment a lot. I do tend to take photos of things when they are cleaned up, but I also like irony :)

Very cool, I especially like the router station.  Did they build the cabinets to your specification, or send you the parts for the frames and you built the rest?  What are the drawer fronts made of?

Thanks :)

I worked with them on an initial design of the frame but have since done it all myself. They sent the frame and I did the rest.

Here’s my blog on building the router table:

https://toolguyd.com/diy-router-table-with-drawers-dust-collection-project/

There’s links there to the other posts on the drawers etc. They are made Russian Birch plywood with an Orange Aluminum drawer pull.

Congratulations!  Yes, I’ve looked through all your build posts on Toolguyd and am looking back on them for drawer and slide assy/install as I have my 8020 MFT-style bench built and am moving on to drawers and pullout tray design for it.

That stuff is really cool, the erector set for adults.  You have built some really really nice stuff with it too.  Ive actually used it before to build a support to hang aquarium lighting.  But this stuff is so expensive that the average woodworker in this world just simply can’t afford this material.  Especially to outfit their entire garage.  I think its geared more towards industrial/commercial use.

I think an erector set for adults is spot on! In particular being able to reconfigure a build is a huge advantage.

In terms of cost, yes it’s not cheap. However, if you brought a few Husky tool chests, giving you probably less storage, you’d could easily spend a similar amount... that said those chest require zero time to build, I’ve spent a lot of time building mine :)

Looking at the Faztek catalog, which series has a T-track that the Festool Guide Rail Supports fit into. I want to build an MFT3 style table larger than the standard MFT3. In my research, it's very hard to tell by looking or reading the size. The MFT3 profile is an odd shape.

The 15-series accepts the Bessey clamp, which fits into the Festool Guide rail. So I’m pretty certain that’s the one you want.

Excellent work, I just love 8020!  Have you blogged the CNC bench, I'd be interested to see it's capabilities and how much it cost to build.

Not yet, it’s on my list. I really need to finish my MFT series first

Well earned Dusty! I spent $600 (a fraction of what you have spent there I am sure) at Faztek based on your recommendation and have been very pleased!

Cool I’m glad you like it :)

I try not to think about how much I have spent! But every time I go in my workshop I don’t regret it!

BTW how did shipping work out? I was able to for shipping myself using a steeply discount UPS deal I get from work.

I don't recall what the shipping cost but must not have been huge or I would have remembered it for sure.
