Hi -
I have a 60" x 120" space between the 2x8's which make up the "poles" of our workshop. I want to put some simple Dual Track (https://www.menards.com/main/storage-organization/shelves-shelving-units/shelf-brackets-accessories/john-sterling-trade-dual-trak-trade-standard/0120-70pm/p-1444436946114.htm) shelving in this space. Shelves will be the full 60", using pine or plywood.
I'm getting stuck as to how to "properly" frame out the space.
A) Do I go with 16" OC 2x4's or space the 2x4's based upon the optimal spacing to prevent sag? Say 8", 30", 52"
B) Cover with 1/2' plywood nailed to 16" OC studs and then attach the brackets?
C) Something else entirely.
TIA
Ross

IMO, nothing better than plywood on the walls: you can mount lotsa other things wherever they fit!

I have the same situation in my pole barn/shop. I went with 2x4s running horizontally, spaced every two feet, and sheathed the whole thing with 1/2” OSB. You could then fasten your shelving brackets into the 2x4s through the sheathing.
