Festool remark at 30:55 segment

He also turned down a $35 million offer from a company which wanted to mass produce his pieces (at segment 27:00).

The audio was so bad in parts I couldn't make out anything about Festool at that marker. Also didn't hear anything about the company mass producing his designs at the 37:00 mark, that segment was all about the stairs?

The audio was clear on my speaker, but the segments should be:

4:30 -- 35 Mn offer turned down, and
8:20 -- Festool sent him one of everything.

Took a class with Sam at Anderson Ranch in Colorado in 1989.  Had a great time and dinner one evening with he and his wife Freda.  Such a gentle soul and very kind.  The class was an intro to making his rocker.  I never made one but did debate placing an order for one of his chairs at the class.  I think the rockers were around $3500.  Wish I had done so!

On a related note, last week I watched a video of Jimmy Diresta making a Maloof-inspired rocker and his finesse with the bandsaw reminded me a lot of Sams.

If you ever get to LA, take a tour of his home and workshop.  Well worth a visit!

When Sam was alive, if you bought one of his books there and asked, the staff would get your name, and bring the book to him to sign!

One of the things on display that I saw there and left a lasting impression on me was a gift he received from one of his students (image).

Edit: I was also attracted to the walnut table top, too, and years later, I built mine similar to his.
