Jess Crow from Crow Creek Designs Demonstration
« on: November 10, 2019, 10:29 PM »
Just attended an in-store demo hosted by Jess Crow at the local Rockler on Saturday the 9th. It was well worth the time spent. She's a great demonstrator as she can talk, interact with the audience and demo at the same time...something I fall far short of.  [eek]

She offered interesting techniques and even though I've worked with epoxy resin before, she offered several talking points that were new to me. If you've worked with epoxy before it will not be an earth shattering "come to Jesus moment" but she offers techniques to finesse the epoxy that just makes sense. It was 2 hours well spent.

She also designed a 25' long table that she needed to purchase a Shaper Origin to carve the Kuskokwim River profile into the table and she said that the Shaper didn't have enough memory to address that length of cut. So she worked with Shaper and they gave her some additional memory capacity. Don't know what that means...but it is interesting.

If you're interested, keep tabs on the local Rockler events...there's a sponsor there somewhere. Rockler or Total Boat or both?

Here's a photo of the 25' Kuskokwim River birch conference table. After she received the commission, she was given a change order and was then flown 4 hours away to the Kuskokwim river to bring back some sand & rocks from the river to be placed in the table.

The quantity of Shaper tape used on the table.
