Ts55r blade sticking out
« on: August 07, 2013, 01:04 PM »
A heads up if you are using a ts55r without an extractor,  the blade did not return on mine the other day due to it clogging up around the riving knife with dust,
it took a while to un clog it and now my riving knife stays out about 20mm

I know the usa have had a recall but nothing in the uk but i assume it is the same saw so it must be to do with consumer law

Shane is there an issue in the uk with these?

While I do periodically communicate with colleagues in other countries, I would hate to give an erroneous answer. So, I would direct anyone with a concern to their local Festool office and stop using their saw immediately if it is not operating properly.

Regarding the issue that has been reported by customers in the U.S., it is currently under investigation regarding the extent and cause of the problem.

Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer.

I had this too.

I blamed my self for not using my ct, I had a Makita before my festool and that had the same issue without dust collection. My riving knife does fully retract though.

There is no correlation between the riving knife and any other current issue. If you experienced sufficient sawdust impacted inside your saw to prevent retraction of the saw and/or riving knife, then I would recommend removing the outer cover of the blade guard (make sure to first unplug the saw, remove the blade, and keep the Fast-Fix lever raised to lockout the motor) and clean out any remaining debris that you missed. If the problem persists after all sawdust has been cleaned out, then the only remaining conditions are that you either bent the upper portion of the riving knife plate or broke a tab out of the aluminum housing. For either of these two conditions, your saw must be sent in for service.
