Oneida Super Cell Upgrade Available
« on: September 12, 2022, 01:45 PM »
FYI to everyone who owns a Super Cell....Oneida is offering a no-charge upgrade kit. If you are the original owner you might already have received an email from Oneida. But for owners who bought their SC used, you might want to contact Oneida to see if you can receive the upgrade kit.

I'll update this post once I receive my upgrade kit. [smile]

I don't have one, but it looks to me like a recall..disguised as a free upgrade.

Thanks for sharing Rob Z.

Reading between the lines, it appears that some users where trying to run their SuperCell without a collection bag and were getting dust in their motors via the suction tube because they weren't installing the plug, as explicitly described in the instructions. Good on Oneida for picking up the slack for customers too cheap to use a bag, read the instructions and/or install a plug.

I fail to see how this "looks like a recall". It looks to me like some customers weren't following the instructions, and messed-up their machines. The manufacturer, rather than telling them to pound sand, is instead introducing a solution to accommodate those who can't be troubled to use a collection bag, read the instructions, and/or install a plug.

Tracking says my upgrade kit will arrive tomorrow.

It never occurred to me that someone would use this $2500 machine without a $1 bag. [eek]

Some people are funny about consumables. They will buy the expensive tool, then choke on the thing that keeps it running properly.  Vacuum bags and sandpaper come to mind first, but saw blades and router bits get in there too.
I don't get it, why handicap the tool with inferior extras?

It reminds me of the people who buy a fancy car, then complain about how expensive the tires are...
