Hi!

I love picture threads  [eek] [eek] [eek] and I love being inspired by purchases other people make  [scared] [scared]  [eek] [eek]  [big grin] [big grin] - it would be really cool if we could get this thread running.

Please share whatever you feel like sharing when you made a tool / workshop related purchase - even the smallest gizmo/gadget  [big grin]  [big grin]  [big grin] Just no new Festool purchases, as there is an existing thread for that on the main board. :)

I'll kick it off with my new, personalized Dryplexx Softshell Work/Shop-Jacket from Engelbert-Strauss I received today among with some personalized workshop T-Shirts, too.

My latest was two Bessey 24" clamps. I don't have a picture, but just imagine what one Bessey 24" clamp looks like, and double it.

A Rockler Dust RIGHT Cord and Hose Holder.  It doesn't swing around like the Festool Dust Extractor boom, but it's much less expensive and might serve until I can build my own out of PVC.

Some Makita old style systainer knock-offs and some Kaizen foam to organize them.  We'll see how that works.

A cheap sound meter off of Amazon.  I'm going to measure the sound of different tool combinations in my shop.  I'm still wondering if I can get away without ear protection for a CT 36 and ETS EC 150/3.

Some Mirka interface pads for my ETS.

Some quantum tilt out bin sets for small parts.

This is my first full summer in my new shop.  I have 8" insulated walls.  The other day it was 87* outside, my shop was 74*, way too warm for my liking.  So today I picked up this window AC unit.   I was originally going to go all out with a Mitsubishi ductless wall mount AC unit.   But I'm gonna give this little guy a try before dropping the coin on the Mitsubishi unit.   This is a little big box store number that didn't break the bank.

This past Saturday I visited my local woodworking store.   I don't know how, but the Bosch GTS1031 table saw found it's way into the bed of my truck..... [cool]

Lastly, a while ago I received the Ultimate Dust Deputy from Toolnut.

As of now, all three new items for my shop are STILL in the original boxes.   That will all change tomorrow morning.
First I'll install the AC unit.  Second I'll set up the Bosch table saw and then I'll hook up the UDD to my CT26.
All so I can start building a chicken coop !    [scared]
The chicken coop is not for me.  I'm actually gonna get paid for building something  [eek]   [eek]

My 20 yr old Jet table saw's motor failed on me last Sunday. The SawStop was an unexpected but not unanticipated purchase that same day. The Jet would have been on it's third motor service. The added power, much improved dust collection and safety features drove the decision that I would not sink any more money into the Jet. I had considered the Jobsite model but stability and power won out over portability. A bonus was being able to use my cast iron router table on the new saw. The saw works great!

I didn't buy it today but a while back I bought some B+W P5 wireless headphones. They are truly incredible sounding and I wear them at work, on walks and a lot in my shop as passive noise suppression.

Comfy as heck and brilliant sound to boot!

I bought a new house today with a 845sqft 3 car garage and a 20x20 space in the basement for shop space. This is a big improvement over the 250sqft basement shop that I currently have! I bought a Hammer A3-41 with silent cutter head back in December and received it in March that I will finally be able to take out of storage. I will now need to purchase a tablesaw. I'm wishing that I went with a Felder over the Hammer so that I won't feel the need to upgrade a few years down the road. I also bought 2 axes and a Sloyd knife from Lie Nielsen. I also just bought a bike, but that's not shop related.

Incra Mast-R-Lift II
Set of clean sweep MagnaLOCK rings
Porter-Cable guide bushing MagnaLOCK ring.

It's replacing an old (pre-2006) Jessum belt-driven lift that is sticking badly.  I know Incra is made by Jessum, but no one is complaining about the new lifts sticking, so I'm hopeful.  The clean sweep rings were part of the decision, as I'd like to improve the airflow from the top of the table to my under-table dust collection port.

Never used one before..... Ive been having some fun.... Shitting my pants.  I have soon learnt I HATE hollowing deep bowls its slow...boring.... and tense lol

Orderd a few Robert Sorby chisels.  Decided needed bigger stuff for hallowing so ordered sovereign chisels and Hope hollowing system with camera.  Although I did really want Clarks hollowing system or Korby but both American so not easy to get.  So settled with a less heavy duty british version. Hopefully it will come tomorow.

Hey Kev!

Basically it's a secret, but I guess it's safe to tell you, here on a woodworking platform  [scared] [scared]:

My friend and I, we have a side business. We travel the world to exorcise those pesky GEDORE'mons from car- and other workshops... It's quite dangerous  [scared]  [scared], doesn't pay as well as robbing banks  [eek] [eek], but the revenue through owning Snap-On shares - is OK  8) 8) 8). I mean, the harder we work, the more Snap-On is bought and shareholder value raises...

Here's a picture of me in action. That was quite a beast, had to bring out the crossed ratchet and pop-up screwdriver, too.... ;) ;) ;)

Kind regards,
Oliver

PS: Maybe for those that don't know, it's a face shield for welding/welding helmet - Snap-On offers a lot of cool "patterns" even an "Iron Man"... :)

To add to the above, I took advantage of a Woodcraft sale to get the big boy PC router motor.  Just couldn't resist.  Added the 1/4" collet.

A while back I routed my left index finger doing something that I knew better than to do.  So I picked up a Woodpecker Free-Hand Guard as well.

And a couple of silicon glue cups.

@Holmz the Invis is targeted at an interesting way of connecting fins to boards (think big old timber stuff). It'll be a while before I get to play with it, but it was available for a promo price .. can't pass that by.

The TP jig is very nicely made. Yes - looking forward to using it [smile]

just as a heads up, PICA has introduced new products.  I saw these in a Lee Valley Catalog:

Hi!

Got a new, better than my old, PRCD-S (Switched Protective Earth - Portable Residual Current Device) from Kopp Germany today. Bought it after someone explained to me why the product I have used before from a different manufacturer is basically useless, quite shocking (no pun intended) given this is supposed to be a safety device.

@CrazyLarry so true. I'm currently in the process of moving a lot of my tools into a work unit while we fix up and present our house for sale .. moving all the systainer housed stuff was a snap. The TP is still in it's box on the bench behind me waiting to go into a box [sad]

Wasn't today, but my most recent non-Festool purchase was a BuildClean air scrubber. I'm digging it so far. It's not the magic air cleaner I had in my imagination, but I do notice an improvement.

I don't usually notice the noise because I work with ear protection always, but when the client comes in, I have to turn the jet engine down to 1.

The cheap gun ($199AUD) is very disappointing, I think you'd get a better result throwing paint bomb balloons at the wall [mad]

Got my new Lamello few days ago 😁

Had a play with it yesterday for first time. Trying it!  Straight away noticed something... and I think Lamello are missing a trick here.

I thought if I wanted to fix two clamex fixings ontop of each other I would have to drill two access holes on both timber faces inside and out.  I thought that would be daft why doesnt the clamex have a hole on both sides so I only need one access hole.

So I removed the rotating metal cam from the clamex and drilled another hole though. I reinserted the metal cam.  I drilled a access hole from one side through both lamello P slots.
BOOM works brilliantly!
At first I thought I might have trouble with alignemnt of the two allan key holes but Alan Key went through easily.

One of these, but in the 3m version.  Also made in Germany and also absolutely superb!!!  This stainless steel tape measure baffles everyone I show it to.  Yes, it opens itself, as if by magic.  Very useful when working single handed on large panels.  Super light too, with nothing to go wrong.  Whoever designed these is a genius!!   8)  [not worthy]

Hi Seth,
I think I did shop from the same place for CMT. It was like 3 years ago and it was 50% off but I do not remember the name.
I buy them from www.routerbitworld.com now. Rich is a great guy to deal with and shipping is always $1 and the the prices are lower compare to any where on line.
I am not new to Martor and have been using them for 7 years. If you do not loose it or loan it to a friend that has a bad habit to breaking stuff, then most likely they indestructible.
Here is the link for them in USA and you can order it right there.

Just to clarify, it's nothing life threatening but it's really, really annoying because it sometimes changes within an hour - makes advance planning completely obsolete and I only dare to leave the house on what I call a "100% good day". Plus, I thought I was done with it, then it hit me again out of the blue. So I'm getting used as pin cushion again...

I still hope to be able to continue projects and start some new ones in a couple of months.

Kind regards and again, thank you very much for the well wishes!

Although, not something directly for the workshop they do aid in making stuff that goes into the workshop.  Some heavier Pfanner Gladiator chainsaw pants for the < 10 degree F days.  Been wearing the ventilation ones for a few months, but those let a little too much air up the rear  [eek]  in the winter.

And a box of 50 Pfanner work gloves because I don't want to run out anytime soon!

Why chainsaw pants over chaps?  Well, when you're out in the woods all day you're spending more time planning a fall and skidding it out than actually running the saw.  Chaps are easier to take off than to put on.  And it never fails that an unseen limb or buck cut needs the saw on it and fatigue + daylight weening might make one neglect the chaps for that cut (I'm very guilty of this).  But I have never felt the desire to ditch the trousers for nature's full ventilation... the family jewels aren't for ticks!

Not a pro , just the occasional tree to cut up. Never tried the pants but I have the chaps and find them bulky and awkward. Don't like the straps and such either. The pants look like the way to go.

Just arrived from Axminster: the UJK Bandsaw Buddy (for the Hammer N4400 that will arrive early May), a Festool cutter for my MFK, a Veritas spokeshave (beautiful recreation of a classic model), a 225-gram Japanese hammer (to supplement the 375-gram one I already have), a Veritas brass mallet, and a Japanese restorer's cats paw. With the British Pound / Euro ratio being what it is, almost a steal…

Its okay for some - I have a pair of Dutch bikes on order and I doubt whether the pound will pick up between now and Easter !

Thanks Oliver!

Had another cool UPS delivery about two weeks ago.  So, I've had some time to use the Jokers and the carver.  Without a doubt Wera makes some nice tools.  These are definitely a nice step up from the Craftsman set I've had forever that is rusting.

The grinder/Arbortech carver is a lot of fun.  It will wear you out though.  Unfortunately the weather hasn't been playing nice to finish my first carving job (not an indoors activity) or I'd share a photo of what's going on.  Pretty excited about the maple because I cut it down nearly 3 years ago and it is spalting nicely at the core.  Should make for an interesting "egg" end table and maybe a bowl.  Ooooor maybe I shouldn't use this wood for the first project  [blink]

I bought Hanson 3095001 2-Piece Adjustable Tap Socket from Amazon.  With these to grip the taps I can use my 3/8 drive Milwaukee for tapping or a 3/8 rachet for restricted areas.  You Tube is almost as hard on my bank account as FOG.  Check out this site for some really nifty tapping and drilling tools http://holemaker-technology.com/

@Poindexter good to see you embracing Arbortech .. I managed to accidentally combine mine with a old angle grinder I sold (and got less for it that the Arbortech cutter was actually worth) [sad]

I'm looking forward to replacing it soon [smile]

Hi Seth,

Definitely something I gladly take the blame for  [big grin] [big grin]

Great choices by the way! And the pop-up bit-holder is really fun - I got the Snap-On version (same bit-holder, but their colors and "Instinct" handle style)  that Wera makes for them. It's great and fun to play with.

Veritas Quick Release Tail Vise
Veritas Bevel Up Jack Rabbet Plane w/ PMV-11 blade
Veritas Small Shoulder Plane w/ PMV-11 blade

Still need to tune up the plane blades.  For the first time ever, though, a Lee valley plane blade did not cut properly out of the box.  The small shoulder plane blade was just slightly off of 90 degrees - enough that the plane would only take shavings on one side.  Should fix up easily.

I now have improved versions of the two planes that I ordered, now that the blades are honed and adjusted.  Per previous experience, they only needed a little polishing on the back, and then a micro bevel.  The blade angle on the shoulder plane was off by a degree or two, but the micro bevel took care of that.

The Veritas jack rabbet plane is awesome, and the review from @derekcohen gave me even more ideas of things to do with it.  The only thing that I can see that you don't get from this plane is the toothed blades.  I wonder if Veritas would custom tooth a blade or two?

Got this today

Had a little play seems really nice, easy to use and a nice thin beam

But an absolutely horrendous colour clash with the festools lol. Doesn't even look like I could fit it in a systainer
But to be honest everything fits really nice in the box inc the tripod

Will be cool if the sys light fits on the tripod

That looks great.

There is a good chance that the Syslight will fit as most tripod kit that I have come across (apart from artillery range finders) has a standard thread fitting.

Forgive me for I have sinned. It's been over a decade since my last Alternative Green (Ryobi) tool purchase, and hopefully it will be another decade before I am tempted again!

In my defense, my main router died last night and I was trying to beat a timeline for delivery of a project. My local big box hardware store opens at 7am Sunday mornings so down I went and grabbed the only 1/2" shank variable speed plunge router they sold. Now I'll need to submit a proposal to the minister of finance and war as to why I need the OF1400.

Ahh yes.   Modified lamelo doubled up.  Dont know why Lamelo dont make fitting for the double up. I had to drill a hole through after taking the fitting apart to make it work.

Im not looking at the mafell because I dont want to spend more money lol.

I need to make mroe use of the lamello at moment its not really being used alot.

Mainly because the fittings are just to expensive.  Standard unit size I would use 16 to feel its a solid unit now thats £10 in fittings.   Mental!

Plus I cant cnc the groove so im having to second machine the parts by hand. So more time.

I have an on going job I would love to use lamello for customer has just ordered 100 more from me.  To use lamello I need to use 12 per item 100 items thats 1200 fittings.  £720 on fittings 🙀

I am using One drives for units and they are brilliant!  Alot cheaper and fully cnc nestable on both mating parts.  Only thing I have to so is tap them in an screw up.

I do love the lamello for mitre joints though brilliant!!  I just wish they cut the cost on the clamex and I would use it alot more.   For just plastic they are charging far to much.

Agreed.  Everyone waxes poetic about their screwdrivers and hex keys, but it's their bits that never fail to impress me.
I could take or leave their screwdrivers.  Actually, I do in fact take Wiha and ye ol' Facom Ergotwist whenever it ain't bits.  :-0
The tips on the PB versions are the nicest, though.  For hex, I use Bondhus, Wiha and PB, interchangeably.   I'm not saying they're interchangeable.   I'm just saying, they all work fine for me. :0

Hi,

Introduced in January, I ordered mine in February, and the first batch shipped last Monday (Germany, not sure about NA and ROW). Arrived today - the Spax Mini-L-Boxx.

And, finally I might add, also the 3,5 mm T-Star screws feature a T-20 drive. So no more changing between T 15 and T 20 on most projects. Great move if you ask me.

Included are: 3,5 x 16; 3,5 x 30; 4 x 35; 4 x 40; 4 x 50; 4,5 x 60 - overall 703 screws and 3 Bits T-Star Plus T 20.

The large L-Boxxes from Spax (102) are supposed to ship at the end of the month - but since I sold all my large L-Boxxes those aren't for me, anyway.

Not that they serve a real purpose other than identifying the tool (which could be a simpler label) and some sharp attention grabbing marketing. But I think those 2d / 3d cut out tool emblems on some of the Wera pouches are cool.  [cool]

I am an absolute fan of Wera tools. They are really well thought out and clearly designed by someone who uses tools.

I am a little jealous of your latest pile !

Hi Mick

Yes, I have that little ratchet and use it a lot. For the older or more arthritic members of the FOG it really does make life a lot easier.

At last years D&M show at Kempton Park I saw some low profile sockets that go with the ratchet but cannot find them on the Wera web site. They are very squat and so you can get the ratchet and the socket into a space about 25 - 30 mm high. Any ideas ?

I don't think Wera has long / deep sockets.  But you can put any brand 1/4" drive deep socket on the ratchet. Are they just not available in the UK?

Picked these up from Ebay. 9" length as opposed to many similar that are 8" so they compliment the 7" Knipex ones I already have better than 8" would. And I really like the beveled tips.

Hi,

I got this wonderful old school drill-/ ratcheting screwdriver/bitholder as a gift yesterday.

And then I visited one of my tool dealers and bought a Mini-Systainer with clear top and insert, a small chisel, a punch and mini-caliper.

Hi @Cheese

Unfortunately I can't tell you for sure who the manufacturer is. Allegedly these are/were made by http://www.robert-schroeder.de/home/ueber-schroeder/ for a German store called Manufactum. ( http://www.manufactum.de )

What I can tell you for sure is that this particular model  was up until recently sold by Manufactum - but they have recently discontinued it, this one was purchased in one of their local shops that had stock left.

In the end it's a common tool of the past, albeit maybe not with the 1/4" hex bit holder, but I guess there are a "gazillion" manufacturers who have manufactured them and maybe even still manufacture them - maybe also in this updated version with 1/4" hex bit holder.

It's called "Drillschraubendreher" or "Driller" in German, and if you search ebay for example - even NOS/ and used from German Military come up for sale...

From Wera for example: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1x-Drillschraubendreher-Wera-Lit-Schraubendreher-445mm-Bits-ex-Bundeswehr-DSS1-/361919958257

"Hermes perfect" variant: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1x-Drillschraubendreher-Hermes-Schraubendreher-440mm-Bits-ex-Bundeswehr-DSS3-/391720427467

"Stanley" variant: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1x-Drillschraubendreher-Stanley-Schraubendreher-435mm-Bits-ex-Bundeswehr-DSS7-/361919957483

"Wiha" variant: http://www.ebay.de/itm/1x-Drillschraubendreher-Wiha-Schraubendreher-435mm-Bits-ex-Bundeswehr-DSS13-/361922831266

Non of them being 1/4" hex variants though.

In this case, I have bought from the seller before and he is gtg (just in case someone must have one of them ;) )

--

There are even some to be found that were made back in the day in GDR:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/DDR-Smalcalda-Drillschraubendreher-Dreher-Schraubenzieher-Werkzeug-Praktikus-/222612373306

From Wikipedia:
The trade name "YANKEE" screwdriver was first marketed by North Brothers Manufacturing Company in 1899, with the No. 30 spiral ratchet screwdriver.

The term "YANKEE SCREWDRIVER" is often used to describe push/pull type screwdriver other than one manufactured by North Brothers Mfg. Co. or Stanley Tools, who purchased the rights to the well-known YANKEE brand or trade name in the 1940s from North Brothers.

Hey Oliver, thought you'd be interested in this.

From Garrett Wade:
"The familiar rotating-barrel Yankee screwdriver, famous for decades, is no longer made by Stanley UK, but now a respected German manufacturer has taken this design and improved it. It has replaced the usual round notched collet-chuck (that held just a few bit sizes) with a modern hex chuck that will hold hundreds of familiar 1/4" hex bits."

Maybe they'll bring out a Centrotec version... [popcorn]

@VW MICK  Stiil got my first cordless with the obligatory jubilee clip. At the time I was using this I was working at a boat builders and without the jubilee clip the Yankee would have been everywhere you didn't want it to be.
Says on it Stanley Yankee no. 130b made by Stanley, West Germany. I hadn't realised that these Yankee's used to be made in Germany.
I will now put it back in the bottom of the draw and crack on with my CXS.

Interesting set! Let's you experience all the different handle styles.

But:

I've never seen black/yellow handled insulated screwdrivers from Wera before and I think it's beyond stupid and begging for an accident. Black/yellow is the combination for the 900 series which are not insulated and have a metal butt/strike cap - something you definitely not want to use around electricity. And now they're mixing this up by releasing insulated screwdrivers in the same color combination? Not the best idea, imho - ymmv.

Oliver

If you do a google search on that Wera model number, it shows up as yellow/red everywhere I looked, just like the other insulated tools.  Maybe the one in the set was new/old stock?

I think the black / yellow is because they were / are trying to color code the square drives. You can also find pictures of the square  in bright green and yellow handle with red blade.  Also lots of places use the same pic for all the screwdrivers.

Hi Seth,

forgive me, I'm not sure we're on the same page here. I know that some stores will use images that might not show the actual or a slightly different product - not taking any issues with that.

But in this instance the pictured screwdriver does exist, and has the 168i, 1000V and VDE stamps... Now that I knew what to look for I found quite a couple of sources to buy these from, even locally.

I still think - square drive or not - it's an accident waiting to happen if someone uses both the 100 VDE and 900 series side by side.

One thing though, I might stand corrected. Judging by the picture from KC Tools I would have sworn it's black/yellow. However if you look at Wera or other vendors, it seems kinda greenish or is that just my eyes?

Yes, I realize that it exists in that color I have one too.  It does have a slight green hue. That one link is interesting that it shows two different square drive in that color. Which means they were not trying to follow the standard square color coding. Yes, bad idea, I don't get it.

Well, I decided to get a square I could trust so I forked out some $$ for the Starrett 12" 4 piece set. It was on Amazon for $230. I checked all the head and they are "dead on balls accurate" as Mona Lisa Vito would say. I had bought a PEC hoping to save a few bucks, but the protractor head was off by about 1-1/2 degrees so I sent it back. The protractor head in the Starrett set is much nicer. If you just want the square and center finder, the PEC would be fine, but I wanted a really good protractor head so this will serve well.

3 different drivers (2)slotted/philips, (1) each of slotted/philips/square and slotted/philips/torx. I have a few tools that I keep in my office at work, but most of them I just have at home for personal usage. I need to run a sub-panel to my garage and then run the electric for all my large shop tools.

My kids (8 and 10) are really into architecture and building stuff.  They go to a shop to take classes and I volunteer there, but it's scary seeing them use large machines and I spend my time playing Mr Safety and operating tools their small hands can't handle.  So...I found the Proxxon line of model making / craft tools that are mini versions of the large shop ones and I'm outfitting a kids workshop in the basement next to my shop.  This is going to be a great Xmas for them...and if this is just a fad for them, now I have some small tools to use along side my big ones.

Ya, it was a no-brainer for me. The Fuel Sawzall with a 9.0 battery and a charger in a cardboard box for $249, that’s something you don’t even think twice about. The naked Fuel Sawzall (tool only) goes for $199. [eek]  The 9.0 battery alone goes for $170 and the charger is a $40-$50 item.

Those blow molded Milwaukee cases however are a PITA. I just chuck them because they’re worthless. Solid structure for landfill.  [big grin]

Upgraded my ancient levels.  Bought 24, 48, and 72" electronic levels...got them from Zoro's at 25% off.  I've had an original electronic level, a 24" Wedge Smartlevel since 1987.  I still works great, used to spring clamp it to a 72" aluminum extrusion for longer jobs.  I'm 65 now and lying down on the floor to see the display or bubbles for mirror installations made me think I deserved an upgrade.  Also bought 3/8" imperial and metric Wera Zyklop sets and the imperial Tool-Check Plus Bit Ratchet Set.

@Peter Halle -

I had a Wedge Smart Level with 24 and 48" rails.  The level stopped working years ago and I pitched sensor and the 24" rail but forgot that I had the 48" rail..   Low and behold I go down in the shop just now and look up in the ceiling joists and there it is.  Dusted it off and think I might devise an insert to let my Wixey digital level be used with this over a 48" space.

Could be fun project to make the insert with my Shaper!

Thanks for that inspiration!

I only had the two footer...used to spring clamp it to a 72" extrusion to set doors.  Also clamped to 8'+ extrusions for installing automatic sliding door frames.  Lasers made that unnecessary.  Lasers also made stretching strings to check for plane obsolete.  Technology moves on.  Loving my Shaper, now I have to learn how to computer design and load.

Not so fast youngsters...I still have the 24" and 48" models in the basement. And the module still works!!! I've placed them in an ever-growing pile of "tools I need to move along". This includes Bailey hand planes, Milwaukee 12v & 18v tools and the worst idea Milwaukee ever decided to market, the V28 line of tools. [crying] [crying]

The 24" electronic level I have was the original, the module was built into the level, not transferable.  I've since bought the 72, 48, and 24" Stabila electronic levels.  These are great, they have various modes, including one that tells you how far out is the surface.  They also have different tones so you can tell without looking which way the level needs to move to find level or plumb.  Managed to buy them at 25% off through Zoro.

I dont think Weras Imperial is made i stainless.

But I went and bought a dremel 4300 w a accessory kit.

I have to trim off some small 1/4" bolts. The ones I bought were tad to long. Tom recommended I use the dremel for it. Took his work and bought one this morning.

Had a dremel before it was a older one gave it away along with my stationary tools when I moved to England. So i got another.

@Dick Mahany - I have one and it is a great miter gauge. You will love it! One side note if you have a Sawstop saw. A few weeks after I got my new Sawstop PCS I was talking on the phone to Sawstop customer service and the person that I was speaking to asked me if I had one (the Incra miter gauge) and when I said that I did he warned me that they are the number one reason that people trigger their saw. So if you have a Sawstop be extra careful as you set up for a cut. The slightest nick and in the aluminum extrusion and you are done😊.

@Dick Mahany - I am looking more closely at your picture and I am fascinated by the extension that you built to give you more clearance in front of the blade for wider cross cuts. I can see the two captured stove bolts on top but can you tell me (or show me) more about how you mounted it underneath and what, if any, additional structure is under there? That type of fixture would solve a couple of issues for me. I like it!

@Alanbach The infeed table is on a DeWalt 7491RS.  It uses the extrusion for the rip fence and the vertical frame tube member to secure it on the saw.  It slides on and self-retains itself with no tools.  I have a number of pics that show how it is mounted in better detail.  PM sent.  One downside is that it does restrict rip fence travel when installed however that is of no concern to me when using a crosscut sled or the miter gauge.

I was able to 'play' with the TSO square yesterday and I was impresses with the accuracy.  Here are my measurements using the 5 cut test method:

Length of test piece - 19.25"
width of top of off cut - .462"
width of bottom of off-cut  - .458"
difference of width .06" over 19.25"

I would say it's pretty darn accurate...

Not sure what others with the TSO product found but if you're on the fence, hop off and buy it.

Great job by @TSO Products

I recently purchased a nice selection of 2" extended Torx drive bits from Apex Tools, made in the USA. Sizes 6 through 40. Very handy to have when those Torx screws are buried in a deep recess.

While not being Centrotec, I do find Apex to be the longest lasting bits on the market. Better than Festool & Milwaukee and 10 times better than Dewalt & Irwin. I've never had one shatter, crack or break. They last for years.

No, the power feed is on the shaper. The stock PM tires are not that good. Needed the upgrade.

Long story on the jointer. Not worth the bytes to explain.

I bought 2 hardware vise packages, the lumber, tools and equipment to build 2 benches but just haven’t got around to getting my equipment setup and start building one. I ordered the classic bench and hope to use it to build a split top and Shaker style bench in the future. I’ll update with pictures when I get the bench delivered and moved into my basement.

Nice Oliver...while at HD the other day, I noticed that Milwaukee, Hilti & Bosch are now also offering SDS bits with dust extraction holes. However they do command a premium price. [eek]  They're around 4-6X the price of regular 4-cutter bits.   Gundrilled holes don't come cheap.  [smile]

For me it's a live experiment. I want to see if I really can put in chemical anchors immediately after drilling the holes. Without blowing out residue. And I want to see how much residue (if any) will come out if I blow out the holes.

I honestly never understood why it was good practice to use a dust extractor while drilling and then blow out the residue without any form of dust extraction and just use a dust mask. (Or use no extraction and rely on a dust mask for both steps ...)

If it works as it should/ as it its marketed - the 10mm extraction drill bit is well worth the 25,- Euro I paid for it.

If you use it with parallel guides you can.  Festool’s won’t work because they occupy the same space as the GRS.  The Seneca ones will work and I presume the Woodpecker’s as well.  You could also make a “fence” that would mount to the GRS.  I believe I saw that TSO was coming out with said fence.

But the scale having both would/is a good thing

Having a Dingo around (or any diesel mini skid steer) is so handy. I have done a month of projects in 3 days. I dropped some trees and bucked them then moved everything into a pile, I pulled out a bunch of landscape plants, I fixed a fence that has been bugging me for years, I have pulled out a ton of English ivy, etc

Yesterday I finally purchased Jessem’s clear cut TS stock guides. I also purchased two mag switch 150’s so that I could mount the guides on my Sawstop PCS without drilling holes in my fence. I followed Dave Stanton’s plan laid out on YouTube. Thank you Dave, this is a GREAT idea! I am really pleased that I was able to install these guides in this way so that I can easily remove the guides when needed as I was not going to drill holes in my fairly new saw anyway. I mostly work alone in my shop and although I do own a TS55 I tend to break down most plywood on the table saw anyway. This makes handling a large sheet so much easier since the guides take care of the process of making sure the edge stays registered properly against the fence.

I make a lot of stuff but nothing pleases me more than a good shop fixture!

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Veto Pro Pac Tech OT-MC and got a TP4B free.  Veto is currently running their spring promotion where you get a free TP4B with a qualifying purchase from March 1, 2019 through June 30,2019.

I already have Veto Pro Pac XLT, but it's really heavy fully loaded and I also like this open design better.  I need to buy more hand tools to fill out my new toolbags.  I took out some of the tools in the picture from the XLT.

A wall clock for the garage (I trust no pics are necessary).  I’m always losing track of time when I’m out there and it’s a nuisance to find the phone or run in the house to check.  It really is something I should have bought years ago.

Funny thing is I wanted an analog clock that I didn’t need to adjust since it would be high on a wall.  I thought with all the WiFi enabled stuff out there, surely there is a better option than the atomic clocks.  The answer is...there is and they are marketing these things for commercial settings ($$$) where all the clocks are synchronized and nobody needs to set them.  So, the atomic clock won.  Thankfully it did find the signal inside of 10 minutes.

@GoingMyWay I love the Veto Pro Pacs bags, we have a XXLF closed top that’s nudging 7 years old and still going strong. Also a now discontinued OT-XXL that’s of similar age, and in very good shape.
They’re expensive but very durable, I cannot think of another tool bag that comes close.

Or just stick an Echo Dot in the shop and you can ask Alexa the WX or time when you need to, set a timer for some task you're doing, use the intercom feature to contact (or be contacted by) someone in the house, stream music to the shop, chat with a friend across town or hundreds of miles away, or listen to podcasts. You could even tie it into your HA system and use a remotely controlled switch our outlet (with appropriately rated capacity of course) to start/stop a shop vac or dust extractor by a verbal command. I bought a refurbed 2nd Gen Echo Dot for the shop for $29 not long ago. That's not much more than the price of a clock.

It's a table saw, do you know where your fingers are?

They are very nice, albeit a bit expensive.  I'm not a even a professional tradesman or anything like that.   They're very solidly built and as a result they're not exactly light even when completely empty.  I'm hoping this setup will be a little lighter than my XLT since they can't hold as many tools.  I'm also trying to be more judicious in the tool selection.  I bought the Klein 7-in-1 nut driver instead of having 7 separate nut drivers (none or maybe just 1 or 2 of which I really even need) like I have in the XLT.

Picked up my first table saw yesterday. DW745 from Home Depot on Special Buy. I've avoided owning one for a couple years now due to being nervous around them but with all the safety features nowadays and needing something to do narrow rips it's time. Everything is square out of the box and the rack and pinion is a pleasure to use. Too bad the CMS fence isn't rack and pinion ...might have to change that. The track saw is great and I'll use it for everything I can but for narrow rips it's too much fussing around.

Now I need @TrackTubesGuy to finish his mobile station plan for incorporating this saw for proper outfeed.  [cool]

Yeah, for whatever reason I haven't jumped on that bandwagon.  I don't love the idea of talking to a computer (or having it listening or recording, etc.).  I suspect that's a matter of time though.  Some use case will come up that will force me to rethink, but today it's not the "time of day" issue.
