Seems pretty cool. You need a vacuum that can be left on and stop/started at the mains by the Bluetooth plug adapter. I guess the dongle attached to the tool/hose reacts to vibrations?

If that’s the case, no reason it couldn’t be attached to a mains tool also for auto extraction with a ‘regular’ vac.

With a couple of festool vacs I’m not about to jump on it. But I like the product and hope it sticks around, as I can see it could be handy.
there's nothing like the right tool for the job

There's an english-speaking Facebook video in which Metabo's engineer Julian says, in part, "in this little black box, it will have intelligent vibration detection so you can also start the vacuum cleaner automatically..."

Pretty nifty, for sure.  I wonder if there would be enough vibration on a hose connected to the dust port on a drill guide other than the PDC or another hammer drill.  One benefit of the "bluetooth battery" method is that you don't need to worry about vibration detection.  One benefit to the Metabo method is being able to swap the hose around brand-agnostically and not having to intentionally press the button to start and stop if it's hose-mounted.

Really nifty.  Still NAINA, but maybe some day...

Keeping any remote on the end of the hose is what I found to be my preference too. Simply because a good part of the time you are using only the hose to clear away debris or do in between clean up.
But then again, for lower wattage tools, you just use the the triggered tool plug on the vac.

Yes but what did he say?

Look at this. My browser translated it to English automagically.

https://www.gotools.de/infothek/metabo-cordless-control

It works by sensing vibration in the tool and sending a signal to switch the DE on/off. Or you can operate the DE manually.

Maybe someone like ToolNut could work with Metabo and bring this to NA.

I've been looking for something just like this to control my FLEX vac.

Yeah, my module (for Flex, connects directly to circuit board / no dongle / also switches filter cleaning on/off etc) is working great and I love it but covid messed up getting chips/parts.  Everything's back open and I've been thinking about reestablishing vendor contacts to make them.
