Tools from the manufacturer Dag-tools
« on: July 16, 2020, 05:19 PM »
Good day, friends!

My name is Magomed Abdulayev. I'm from Dagestan, Russia.
I am a practicing carpenter. But back in 2014, I became interested in a tool for carpenters. From that time on, I started to come up with all sorts of tools and accessories for working with wood. To date, my results will tell you photos and videos of the tools I have produced. I apologize for my English, but I mostly use a translator. And I want to listen to your assessments, opinions and suggestions.

With great respect to the community, Mahomed.

Hello Mahomed,
and welcome to the FESTOOL Owners Group forum. Surprising that you would find this interesting and helpful group of woodworkers here in the US.

Your router table looks like a very well done design. How does a carpenter like yourself come to have the knowledge and skills to to use CAD software for design and rendering?

It is not clear from your first post what your aim is. Perhaps you can explain a littel more in your next post.
Meanwhile, I expect quite a few here on the FOG forum to look up where Dagestan is. I know very littel about your country except for its scenic beauty and the preservation of the old ways, including woodworking and timberfaming similar to parts of eastern Europe.

What is your connection with FESTOOL? is there a FESTOOL dealer in Makhachkala?
By the way your "translator" (person or software) is doing a good job - so don't hesitate to participate here.

Hans

Hello, Hans!
Greetings to all colleagues!

Thank you Hans, I'm glad you liked my work. First of all, I am a good computer scientist, this is IT. Autodesk Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, Key Keyshot 9 (for rendering) Adobe Photoshop.

The purpose of my visit, initially, was to gain knowledge on such a beautiful forum as yours!
I am very surprised that you in America have ever heard about our beautiful mountainous Dagestan! I have great respect for the American people and their history. And even than that America reminds me of our Dagestan, where more than thirty-six nationalities live peacefully nearby. I can safely say that America and Dagestan are like brothers.

Hans, the relationship with Festool, when it was I was a dealer in Moscow. But then I went to Dagestan to my native country and started producing my instruments under the Dag-tools brand.

And here's another thing, Hans! You ask about the relationship with Festool, I'm working on it for many years, and are, I'm a Festool-fan just like you.

And today I produce about twenty items (tools and accessories for carpenters). As you may have already seen by visiting my Dag tools channel on YouTube.

There are Festool dealers in Dagestan, and they are my good friends. They are located in the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala.

The link above to Dagestan

Luke Duggleby - history of travel to Dagestan". Located in the North Caucasus, bordering the Caspian Sea and a Republic of Russia, Dagestan is home to almost 3 million mostly muslim people. Ethnically very diverse, it is made up of several dozen ethnic groups and is Russia's most heterogeneous republic, where no ethnicity forms a majority. " Finally completed my edit of work shot in the wonderful Dagestan, Russia. I spent just over 2 weeks traveling around the region visiting remote communities and generally having an awesome time. A special thanks to my good friends who made the trip so enjoyable Shamil Gadzhidadaev, Shamil Kadiev, Nariman Gafurov and many more. If anyone wants to get off the beaten track and meet some of the friendliest and most generous people I have ever met in my life GO!!

Hans, very glad to meet you! I am happy to be accepted into a family like yours!

Some more of my works, but they are real (this is not a render)!

P.S.Without exaggeration, I want to tell you colleagues, in my works there is a part of all of all, I have been reading your forum since 2015, and it gave me inspiration for all these creations.

... have you considered levers to tighten / adjust fence instead of allen / thumb screws ?

Yes, I am considering this option, but due to the fact that I am loaded with orders, I do not have time to implement it.

Magomed

My apologies for misspelling your name [crying]. I saw two spellings and didn't know which one was the typo.

Do you fabricate and sell those components for your shooting board?

Rob

I'll admit, main reason I know of Dagestan is because of the UFC, Khabib Nurmagomedov, lol  [big grin] So glad he beat Connor McGregor.

Yes, Khabib glorified Dagestan in the 21st century.  But before him, Dagestan was glorified by Rasul Gamzatov, Khalilbeg Musalayasul, Shamil Imam of Chechnya and Dagestan.  And many other personalities.

Hi Magomed

That is very nicely made. The only addition I would suggest is the ability to fine tune angles, as this is often needed (three corners are easy - the mating fourth corner is the one that counts :) ).

Your photos above are too small to see detail, but the Instagram link helps. I see there that the idea came. from someone. I suspect his ideas came from my website, as this is essentially the design I built - in wood - a decade ago. It has been posted on many forums many times over the years. Here are examples ...

This is a more advanced design insofar as the board is also ramped. The main fence  is adjustable in two plains, side-to-side ...

Square and at 45 degrees ...

There is also micro-adjustability at the one end to fine tune angles (this is missing from yours). The accessory fences are attached to the main fence, and this automatically provides micro-adjustability for them as well?

Here is the Donkey’s Ear ...

.. and attachments ...

In use ...

Looking forward to your comments. I have been designing and building these boards for about 20 years, and happy to offer you feedback.

Derek

Hi, Derek!

I was away and couldn't post a quality photo, I'm sorry. Today I am back in the workshop and with you again. Replaced the old photos with new ones with a good resolution.

Derek, in the photo with good quality, I think you can see that there is a fine adjustment.

All this work we did with my client, mostly he sent me his wishes. And in one of the letters, he sent me a photo of a similar old instrument. I put the photo here, and inspired by this picture, I started to design a tool that I got.

Derek, i have not seen your work before, but they are also very good! I also looked at your link, it's impressive, beautiful work.
Now I will know that you have done a great job, for which you have my respect!

Best regards, Magomed.

Thanks Magomed. The Stanley #52 is a good model for a shooting board. I've been using one for about 15 or more years.

A few years back the Stanley #51 plane was replaced in daily use by the LN# 51, and then by the Veritas Shooting plane ...

You do beautiful work. If you are up to making your version of the #52, I believe that there would be a big market for you!

Regards from Perth

Derek
