scarfing with a chainsaw and custom saw

Occasionally. very occasionally I need to cut a scarf, but have never found a good way. Here again is shipwright Louis Sauzedde demonstrating how he cuts a scarf. Amazing skill, knowledge and adaption of tools. Definitely worth watching any of his videos if you want to learn more about wood.


Don't think he owns a Festool, but here is a video where he edge preps quarter sawn planks


And one last one, where he demonstrates cutting progressive bevels on boat planking with his circular saw.

This guy really is quite good.  I like his techniques for straightening lumber, but the trick with the changing bevel left me smiling.  Don't know that I'll ever need that trick, but it's certainly a nice-to-know.

I liked the cutting of the scarf joint with a chain saw. Pretty slick [thumbs up].

Mr Friendly looks like he could be a handfull at times. [eek]

The custom workbench video is pretty good also.

Louis's own version of an MFT that allows for the clamping of material, his spin on DC, (dust control rather than dust collection) and his Milwaukee version of a track saw. No Quick Clamps needed here. [thumbs up]

  Louis Sauzedde  is one step ahead  on Festool.
He has a  progressive  bevelling  hand held  circular saw.
