Prefect micro LED with switch for my P1CC
« on: December 11, 2020, 04:05 PM »
As most of you know the P1CC in all its might has an irritating flaw. It does not have an LED. After i got it, could not help but adore the brilliance of its design, but i have no clue as to why something as simple as an LED light was missed. I was exploring the option of rigging my own LED, but that would be quite some work. Doable but messy. Well i chanced upon a brilliant find that solves the problem and am excited to share it with you all.

Its a small sealed micro LED unit with its own switch that can be stuck anywhere you want! No cables. No mess. Turn on or off when u want. Its about 20$ for a pack of 18 from Costco. Each unit has 2 button cells and comes as one sealed unit. It can be used in many other applications and is a generic product. But for me it was the perfect choice for the P1CC.

I use the same LEDs on the bottom of my 1010 router.  They are quite nice.

That looks like a great idea guys.  [smile]

Curious about the battery life on the LED's. I assume the battery cannot be changed?

Great idea indeed.

According to this Canadian vendor, they use coin cell lithium batteries with 17 Hours of battery life, which I assume can be replaced:

They seem to last a long time, obviously depends on usage.    The ones I have don't appear to have changeable batteries, or at least without major surgery.

I was surprised with the 17 hour rating but it makes sense because they are using 2 batteries in each light.

Amazon sells a package of 6 for $10...cheap. I also noticed that a pair were placed inside an electrical panel for when the electricity goes off.  [big grin]

Love the fact that the 3 pack is 9.60 and the 6 pack is 9.68. Gotta think the packaging costs more than the lights.

Where would you place it on P1cc? Not much room around the blade.

From an environmental point of view, sealing a lithium battery into a throw away consumable isn't a good idea.
