New Dust Cyclone in the Market

Wood magazine says it is almost on par with the Oneido 2.5 DD, but it tips easily:

Interesting design being so much shorter than usual, can't work out if that would be better or worse having such a lower angle of attack for the particles. I'd like to have seen in the video though the unit being used and then the DC and the cyclone being opened up instead of showing after shots.

Not suggesting anything but for completeness and continuity I think it would have been better.

that looks stout! the flanges look thicker. the gasket looks thicker. the bolts look bigger. the unit is shorter I don't see how it topples easier than DD??

there's an extra seam with gaskets but maybe it doesn't matter. at least you could open it. the DD is factory-don't-touch that lid seal

also the middle pipe goes lower than DD. more than half the cyclone height. I wonder why it has a flared opening at the end

height of 14" vs 17.5" is noticeable

The videos produced by the Amazon seller (the site says sold by amazon.com) seem to be better than the one on the infinitytools site.

The middle pipe design is indeed different from Oneido's. Maybe someone will do a more detailed comparison. The info. offered by Wood magazine is more like an ad to me than a review.

That's why I was a little dubious with the separate after shots showing there wasn't a single spec of dust in the dusty. As good as my DD's are, and they are good, I still get tiny amounts over time in the extractor.

I think the photo with no dust in the vac was taken after only a brief test of the cyclone unit. I didn't try it, but I suspect that my vac would also see no dust there if I just made some cuts with the Kapex and the DD2.5. What I'd like to see is some test done with the dust, some nuts as well as a flow meter in a more formal comparison.

By the way, I paid $60US for the DD2.5, which is same price as the Quick Snap.

The one on Amazon is by Cen-tec. They also make the quick change hoses infinity sells (see https://www.amazon.com/Cen-Tec-Systems-94709-Multi-Brand-Collection/dp/B0849L6LLH?keywords=Cen-Tec+Systems&qid=1677916348&sr=8-5), so Infinity just seems to be rebranding Cen-tec products (and doing a better job marketing them).
Cen-tec seems to mostly cater to cleaning professionals, so wood working is not their focus.
