I own a G-700. Great machine---execpt the filter system...

It is connected to a shaper and 25" planer. Never both at the same time.

It is very quite and works extremely well as long as you keep up with the filters.

The first time the filters plugged the sensing system gave no warning. It got to a point where it was exhaling dust instead of collecting it.

The machine passages were plugged from bottom of filters to impeller exit.

We now do a filter cleaning with the hose every day. We do use the wipes to "shake" the filter.

I did not reinstall the filter shroud. I can remove and replace the filters in about 15 minutes if the need arises. I do keep a "clean" set of filters in stock just for "one of those days.

If/when I need another dust extractor I'd get the next model up (800???) with the quick change filters.

This is one are where a long cone cyclone such as a CV excels as it separates to about 99% keeping the filters cleaner for longer.

I have a question for G-700 owners. Harvey says that it uses Hepa filters but there is no mention of testing and or certification. Oneida clearly states their Hepa filters are genuine GE filters that have been certified. Do the filters themselves have some kind of label or badge on them or something?

They also state the exhaust emits 0.05 mg/m³ of dust.  I am no expert, I'm genuinely curious how it could only exhaust that amount when a Hepa filter is rated for 0.3 microns?

I've emailed Harvey but thought I'd ask here to see if anyone had already asked these questions.

Harvey just got back to me. I assume as it is a Chinese company they were celebrating Lunar New Year.

HEPA filter and the preliminary separation & Gyro air separation system, make it possible to exhaust at 0.05mg/m³.
Filter paper is complied with HEPA, Toray brand. See attached document.

They did provide the Hepa certificate as well.

Has anyone seen a discount code for a G700 recently?  It seems the only place it can be bought is on the harvey website.  I ordered a Laguna Pflux in feb but have now been told it is a 6-7 month delivery.

Have you looked around to see if someone has the Laguna in stock? I don't know what current supplies for them are. Often though there is an obscure dealer with a unit in stock. Might be worth a call to Laguna even, especially if you can get a hold of the Laguna rep.

I would call Harvey and say this code is straight off their website but you can't get it to work and see if they will honor it. You never know...

Thanks for your reply. I did yes. I actually ordered the laguna a few minutes after it was released on Feb18th and was told this week the earliest delivery is July directly from Laguna.

I called Harvey and they can do the unit for 2700.  I am just about to pull the trigger!

That is not a bad price at all. I think the lowest I have seen it in the last year or so was $2500, and most often the low price is $2600, so $100 more is no biggie. I was seriously looking at a Harvey G700, but wound up with a far cheaper new Jet JCDC-3 from Ebay, then put an expensive HEPA filter onto it, for 1/3 the price of a Harvey unit. There are complaints with many of the dust collectors available today with the cyclones being too short, filters plugging, hard to clean, along with a list of other nuances.

Keeping an eye on Craiglist and Ebay until you find a unit might not be a bad idea. I've often seen brand name dust collectors for sale, like Oneida, Clearvue, Laguna, Powermatic, etc.

The G700 was on my radar too, however I decided to buy an Oneida Supercell yesterday. It is a lot smaller which is really important for my small shop.

More likely the COVID isolation measures the Government is putting into place has delayed the response. Parts of China are completely locked down and a lot of people are in extreme circumstances bot even being allowed to leave their homes for food shopping according to some reports.

Thanks.  This is the same doc they sent me but it doesn't mention HEPA anywhere, and the filtration efficiency shown on that document is lower than "HEPA" standards.  HEPA standard is 99.97% at 0.3 microns.  The physical properties report attached lists 99.35% efficiency at 0.3-0.5 microns, and they don't mention the standard that this filter is tested to.  I've asked for an explanation from Harvey but haven't received anything back after multiple attempts.
