Combination machines

I'm considering  purchasing  a second hand three year old combination machine  which is a panel saw, spindle moulder(Shaper)  and planer.

The machine is a lot cheaper than a brand new  panel saw  only from the same  manufacturer.
 Has anyone any experience with these devices  and  would you recommend them?
The machine make  is Hammer.

One of my friends has a hammer combination machine. I not sure of the model it has the saw and spindle moulder. For a small workshop it does seem a good machine.

Someone  was looking at the  machine yesterday  but  was too large for  their  workshop. The asking price is  £3300.
The list price on the Hammer website  for a brand new machine  is  £8800.

I hope to view the machine  on Tuesday evening.

I have used the felder version  which was a combi like the hammer one you mentioned.

If you have the money and room you are best having it all seperate.

Saying that if you are using the machines by your self it's not really a problem. 

Its when you have some one helping you on a job only one machine can be running at a time. 

There is a summer deal at the moment for the hammer multi machine.
Which included cutters blades and dust extraction.

Nice looking  piece off  kit.
That's the "Comfort" model  which  is smaller than the "Perform".

Oh sorry.  You didn't specify which model.

I have the felder range had it all delivered couple weeks ago. 

Nice machinery.  I do have a problem with my thicknesser at the moment  the motorised rise and fall judders when it moves up but the electronic dail display carries on.

So basically when it's been moved up and down couple of times it ends up displying -minus 30mm for the thickness yet I can stick a 22mm piece of timber and it just skims it lol.

They are sending a technician out to sort it.

Agree with jmbfestool - If you have the space, I'd go separate, however that's a good price (and I suspect open to further reduction) for Hammer kit and its one of the better combination options.

I've got the K3 Winner table saw, an n4400 bandsaw and an A3-31 thicknesser planer - the quality of these tools is spot on and worth every penny. Make sure you get any accessories lying around like transport trolleys, reduction rings, mitre guides, etc as they can be expensive.

I would also not discount an older Felder machine.. they are built to be fairly bomb proof, and can get some nice 240v combo's popping up on eBay.. like this one

I'd recommend registering with the Hammer UK site and you will receive their usual postal bumpf showing what offers they have on from time to time.

Also the peripherals page is where the hammer bits are found.
