LED Work Light with Festool batteries
« on: November 05, 2022, 05:10 PM »
I am looking for a new battery operated LED work light and since Festools does not provide anything larger than the syslite KAL II I need to look elsewhere. The ideal solution would be to have something that accepts Festool batteries, as I already have some Festool 18V batteries. To my surprise, Brennenstuhl have actually made some lights that accepts 7 different battery types and I was wondering if anyone has experience with these lights?

An overview over the working lights from Brennenstuhl can be found here: https://www.brennenstuhl.com/en-DE/products/led-construction-work-lights

The 6050 MH versions with 6000 lumen and both mains and 18V operation looks very interesting with size/luminosity in the right range for portable use.

I see that the color temperature is 6500K which is a bit unusual, as most work lights seems to be 4000-5500K. Anyone with experience with 6500K work lights that can comment if this would look strange for indoor use?

Any other suggestions of a good battery operated work light is much appreciated!

I have the Festool original sys lite and the II, and a couple Milwaukee 18v.  I wanted something with more output and since I have the Metabo HPT 36/18 table saw and batteries I bought the new 10,000 lumen light.  It shines comparably to my Duo, it's great.

These 2 led lamps can operate from different brand batteries, including Festool.
They work with different adapters.
They are sold on GoTools.
But they are made by LED's Work and are also available in different colours.

Thanks for suggesting alternatives!

The GoTools lights looks interesting. The large lighting area seems like a big plus and the color temperature is closer to what seems to be "standard".

totally personal taste I guess, but I just don't care for 6500k lighting at all. I find it unnatural and annoying.  I know some friends that like it just fine...

Absolutely a valid point and I kind of agree so that is why I was a little concerned about this.

During the search for a Festool battery supported light I also came over Scangrip, specifically with the new Nova (and vega) series lamps: https://www.scangrip.com/en-gb/shop/work-light-range/floodlights/nova-4-connect

These work lights accepts a lot of battery systems with adapters, and CAS batteries without adapter. The build quality and solutions are really well though out, so this looks like a very good option now.

As a fun fact, Scangrip Nova has a striking similarity with the Bosch GLI 18V-4000/10000 work lights so it seems like Scangrip is OEM manufacturing this light for Bosch.

The actual lamp on the Bosch product does have Scangrip printed on it. Bosch adapter is screwed to the light housing so maybe it could be removed to use other adapters?
