Bosch 20mm hinge boring bit

Thinking about this as an alternative to the Festool version: Bosch 20mm hinge boring bit  It has a 10mm collet, but you can get a 1/2" to 10mm reducer for 10 bucks.  Has anyone used/tried this bit?

Come to find out the the LH on my Bosch cutter meant left handed.

So I purchased another drilling jig to make it work and they cut well.

I'd purchase it again but it would be the RH version.  Oops.

The bit is not to be used in a router!

It is for a Line Bore machine and is rated at a much lower rpm than traditional routers.
The first clue is the 10mm shank(standard for LB machines) and the second is the LH vs RH rotation when ordering.

Amazon description:

• They utilize a 10 mm shank with a locking flat and adjustable top screw for automatic and semi-automatic boring machines.

The Festool bit works fine and was designed to work in routers.

I bought one of these first, simply because the Festool one was NAIA (in Australia). I thought the Bosch packaging indicated that it was suitable for use in a router, but in any case - I routed two holes with it (into 12mm hardwood ply) then gave up and ordered the Festool bit from Amazon Germany. Smooth sailing!

Presuming you want this for MFT cloning, not hinge drilling...?

Thanks for the catch.  I was actually going to use it to make a few 20mm holes for storing dogs and other MFT accessories.  I know that Freud and CMT make straight 20mm bits, but these are not the greatest for simple plunges.  Looks like I might end up having to get the Festool bit.

The T1420M, 1/2" is £20.10. (I've ordered the 8mm for the OF1010.)
Wealden do a 20mm 8mm shank hinge boring bit as well, that's what I used to do the holes on my cutting table

I use the Festool 491072 hinge boring bit in my 1400 and it makes perfect holes.  I've made multiple MFT style tops and bored probably 600 holes and it still works cleanly.

I skipped over it b/c it said 5/16" shank, though I realize now that this is just imperial-speak for 8mm.  Will it actually fit in an 8mm collet, or do I have to get a specific 1/2" to 5/16" collet reducer insert [in which case I could only use it on the 1400].  Thanks.

I've got this bit and have used it in my drill many a time.  Works quite well and makes nice clean holes.  Even after chipping one of the carbide teeth it still works very well.

Never used it in a router though.
