Mike,
cutting them down on a router table is probably the safest way.
Instead of the dogs that came with it, use a pair of hex head bolts to fit the aluminum T-slot and bolt this to a suitable piece of wood for workholding while routing.
Make repeated shallow cuts.
Or, use the same workholding approach to rip the aluminum on the table saw with a blade designed for non-ferrous material.
Take the rest of the time to clean up the residue from the cutting wax or WD-40 lubricant along with all the chips around your shop and in your shoe soles.
