Really? I avoid that stuff at all cost. I keep some at home, for household things, but not in the shop.
I worked in a bodyshop for many years (90s) and it was a definite no-no there too.

Yes, that stuff, as a vapor in the air, is a fisheye nightmare. You may never have a problem with hand-applied finishes, oils etc. but sprayed lacquer is a totally different matter.
Paste wax has never been an issue, when used on table surfaces, clamping cauls, etc. If you got it on your parts directly, while "wet", it would be a problem though
