Has anyone seen these yet? The guide rails look exactly the same as the Mafell........

The new BOSCH saw is compatible to the Mafell guide rail. There are some rumors in the German Bosch professional forum that the plunge saw is made by Mafell. Personally, I do think that is a good way for BOSCH, because the learned that their own development could not catch up with the leading companies (Festool and Mafell). So they took the smart way out of the mess and cooperated with Mafell. For the users it is good.

i don't understand what's going on with Bosch, it's been less than a year that they have finally been seeming to try and catch up with festool. with the glider saw first to compete with kapex, and now after over half a decennial all they can do is release a copy of the TS?
their glider is still not out in europe, and this plunge saw wasn't announced either, so it seems the uk (apparently) is being used as test dummies, like the US with the glider?
they make good stuff, but i was tired of waiting on them to catch up. i'm on the festool wagon now and aint coming down anymore.

yeah I Saw the Bosh plunge saw the other day in the D&M catalogue. At first i thought they copied festool then like you said i soon noticed it was a mafel rail. Would like to see it in person she what it's like. Dnt think I'll ever buy one though

yup, been out in the states for almost a year and reviews are mixed, though the new version has dual lazers and a quality blade, i didn't know it was available in the UK now.
on this side of the channel including germany it should be available in september.
i have a feeling it will be put in the shadow by the domino xl!

One thing that I don't like about all these new plunge saws, is they don't offer a system. I've tried some other track saws and some offer great features and are really nice. But youu end up buying a saw and track that doesn't work with anything else. I don't see Bosch or makita making changes to their exsisting tools so they work together.

All these other companys can come out with this stuff, but until all their tools work together and have amazing customer service, they can keep them.

Well they kinda have? Makita have festool in der system as they have used a festool rail so the rail works with other festool tools

And bosch has mafel in der system as they used mafel rails. So in a round about way they do have a system

I have Hilti 22v circular saw fitted with a Trend blade and will use it on a Makita track

I also have the Mafell plunge saw but the cordless combination will come in very handy on some jobs....

I use my Mafell mt55 track saw on my festool tracks. works a treat.. the festool dust extractor fits as well, so its all good.

Ahh forgot about my festool extractor fitted to the Hilti saw

I might get some Dewalt rail clamps just to add to the mixture..

Bosch is my 2 favorite handheld tool company. But I concur on the system comments, that adds significant value over a simple plunge saw.

I have not got any Festool tracks, only Mafell... The Makita tracks are the same as the Festool but a lot cheaper, i have just ordered a 1400mm track for £32.95..

Actually Bosch is now on their third generation of rail saws. The previous two generations were on a Bosch specific guide rail which only a few Russian manufacturers have adopted. In the first generation (circa year 2000) they had a 190mm plunge saw which was aimed squarely at the Festool market, the GKS68B (in those days the Festool rail saws had pressed steel baseplates, too). The problems with it were manifold, from having a flimsy steel base which wouldn't lock firmly at any angle (only one locking quadrant) to having a sprung riving knife and a plunge mechanism which self-destructed regularly. All in a package bigger than a TS75 is nowadays. The reason i know this is because I made the mistake of buying one of them.......

Bosch are apparently offering guide rail attachments for their jigsaws and routers when the new rails come out. they've also redesigned the conventional range of saws (GKS55 CE - 160mm, GKS65 CE - 190mm and GKS85 CE - 235mm to run on the new tracks, now called GKS 55 GCE, etc). I'm hoping that these saws will also run on the Festool rails like the new plunger does. And Bosch also switched to using a system container late last year with DW copying the concept a couple of months back for their new compact cordless ranges. Seems like the Systainer has influenced their thinking

I used a Hilti WSC255 plunge saw on Festool rails for 5 years - they are identical profiles. Incidentally, the Makita rails work as well, and in the UK at least Makita 3 metre rails are way cheaper than Festool ones. When I bought my new TS55 I simply transferred to my rails (2 x Festool, 1 x Protool and 1 x Makita)

It sure does not seem the dust collection will be as good as the Festool, at least not from these pics. And with no dust collection what the heck is the point, it is NOT a Festool competitor without dust collection. I can't even consider the saw. It appears they do not have a dust port at all!

EDIT:

It seems Bosch has more than two new saws, but four. The two in the thread I referred to and then the Pro GXT series as shown in first post which has the plunge, dust collection etc.

This article is just a bunch of honkey wonk. It's Bosch's way of getting their feet wet, jumping on the bandwagon to minimize overall sales loss from Festool and Makita versions. Looks like the "My battery is bigger than yours" fiasco in the drill competitions over the last 5 years. Maybe if they can incorporate their boom box into the saws, I'd go for it. Something like mounting the CD to the saw blade arbor. I just worry about CD's skipping while cutting through some nasty grain changes in the wood.

It looks like they just got a regular circular saw and put a groove in the base for the rail. The article doesnt mention any plunge action, no fast fix changing system to change the blade and worst of all no dust port. How are gona compete without those features? Back to the drawing board Bosch.

Their plungesaw looks alot like Festools just some different aesthetics. Its still a Bosch in the end.
Wonder if it'll come with a 3 year warranty like Festool? I doubt it.

It comes with a 3 year warranty...... I would pick the Bosch over the Festool if it is the same as the Mafell....
