2021 Festool new patents
« on: May 26, 2021, 07:30 PM »
Did not see this mentioned yet, or I missed it.
There is a short video on youtube .
Some of the new patents are:
- Trackless track saw
- SawStop/Kapex Miter Saw

They sound interesting.

Thanks for posting...all 3 items could be interesting.

Even though the light on the drill may seem like over kill now, it rather reminds me of the progression of windshield washers on cars. From not available in the 40's, to optional in the 50's & 60's to standard equipment in the 70's & 80's.

Just because they (any company) get a patent on something does not mean it will ever go into production. This could just be to ward off anyone else from bringing out their own version. They put the patent in the vault and haul it out if anyone tried to infringe on it. then they wait until the last minute when sales have been exhausted on some current product to introduce their 'new' tool. I'm saying this about manufacturers in general not Festool or their parent company in particular. They all do it. The photo industry was probably the king of this way back in the 70s and 80s.
