Learning something New
« on: April 30, 2020, 02:59 PM »
With having extra time on my hands due to our lock down, I thought I would try something new. A friend suggested I try "Kumiko", a Japanese wood art form. Here is a photo of my third trial panel. Each side is 20" long.  Cheers,
JC

@JCLP  Wow!  Nicely done!  That's got to be very tedious, but I'm sure it was a lot of fun putting it together.   [thumbs up]

What wood did you use?

Thanks for sharing.

The long pieces, 14 of them, form the diagonal grid and they are half edge lap joints.

Thanks Mike. It's actually quite relaxing, also got to know my chisels and Japanese saws better. The wood I used for this one is Basswood. Clean wood, no knots, great to cut and chisel and sands very easily.

Cheers,
JC
