Here is the Japanese lantern at work in our family room. Also, my latest project. Book matched panels.

I was amazed by the lantern, but those matched panels - unbelievable! Simply gorgeous!

How did you do those crescent shapes?  Are they bent, or sawed in that shape?

I use a Dozuki Fine tooth Japanese saw and a miter box.

The curved pieces are bent by hand. Broke a few but that is part of the process.

Looks great!  I see one difference in the book matched panels, but I love the intricate joinery!
