Entrance Door project
« on: August 25, 2014, 05:20 AM »
Hi

I thought i would put my newest project out here, i am due to start in the next few weeks before the uk winter hits!

I am living in a victorian house in the uk and i have to replace the current terrible front door, not in keeping and poorly made with the style in the picture below.

has anyone made anything similar and has anyone used the domino for the joints? not sure if they are upto a front door?

Looking for detailed plans or where to get them if possible

Also chucked in a pic of my recently finished Ron Paulk workbench as made that to accommodate the door work

Many Thanks,

Adrian

Nice job on the bench!

It looks like you forgot a row of holes down the middle though...

(In case it doesn't come across properly, I'm just picking on you about the holes. The bench looks first class. I need to get to building one myself.)

And I am anxious to see what your door ends up looking like?! It sounds like a great project!

Ha,

Yeah your right about the holes, I made the bench that won't come apart.

The holes in the middle would hit the centre support.

Slight error.

Still not decided what to do with the storage. Just used spare ply so far.

May make a dust extractor and storage area

Other error is the holes specified are not big enough for my plunge saw etc!

Oh well you learn.

The one problem with using a Domino 500 is that the depth of the mortises won't be as deep when compared to the 700 model. For an Entrance Door, this can matter.
25mm versus the much longer cutters of the 700.
Not as many Sanders as PA Floor guy.....

That's probably one of the finest finishes I've seen on the Ron Paulk workbench! Inspiring!
