Congrats to Shane. Tool Nut was the first place I discovered Festool and I've bought most of my stuff from there. They are very helpful and a great bunch of guys. He will fit in well there!

Shane,

I openly admit that I am saddened to hear about your decision.  For the past 6 years you have been there for me while I learned about being a moderator here.  You have been a friend and gave me so much support during my various trials and tribulations and my cancer.

More than that I have seen you go far and beyond what would be expected and you have lived by your motto: "I try to treat people the way I would want to be treated."

I will miss you and wish you weren't leaving us here in the role that you have played.  I do wish you the best and hope that health, prosperity, and happiness accompany you along your new path.

Wow - big news.

Shane, you have been an incredible resource to Festool owners and prospects and an outstanding advocate for Festool the company in solving issues, connecting customers to a wealth of information and being fair in moderation when it is hardly an easy job to manage a forum of users in an open Internet.

Where ever you are going, I'm sure your customer centricity will carry you far.  Hope to see you continue to participate in the forum and wish you the best.  Your new opportunity must be amazing to leave behind this cast of characters that you spend at least 20 hours a day with!  I'm sure you'll get lonely and desire to participate on an occasional basis!

I hope you are moving to a new opportunity within Festool.  But regardless, thank you for making FOG a special place.  I'm hopeful that the three people they hire to take your place can be as accommodating and professional as you have been!

Shane, you have been an extraordinary presence on the FOG and an incredible ambassador for the Festool brand and their customer service. I do hope they find another person with your qualities to try to replace you but it will be hard.

Good luck with your future and Tool Nut is one smart cooky to get you.

Bruce

P.S. I was wondering, every morning when you wake up and check the FOG, what was you worst case scenario you can imagine, Peter Parfitt cursing a new festool tool or Paul Marcel rejecting the Domino

Well now...not sure what to write...bit taken aback...you've been such an inspiring presence on FOG since I first found out about it...will leave a bit of a 'hole' that might take a while to 'filled' by others - if they can.   [scared]
First off, congratulations on your move, and, congratulations to Tool Nut for 'getting' you.  [big grin]
Thank you for all you've done: in particular, the considerate manner that you've dealt with occasional 'challenging' threads and posts.  Also, the sheer energy that you have put into helping people - wherever they live in the world; and so often, giving the impression of being available 24/7.
On top of all that - running the FOG site so efficiently.
I raise my glass to you - good luck.

For the short time I've been a FOG member the posts I've seen you contribute to or started have demonstrated how I perceive you to be very professional and one helluva class act. Best of luck to you in your next chapter!

Good luck in your new adventure, Shane; whatever you end up doing, you'll knock it out of the park ( <-- an odd expression apparently from a 'sport' called baseball)

As for the speculation that I changed my mind and turned my back on the Domino... never! :) haha

Enjoy ToolNut, you nut  ;D

Sorry to hear the news and good luck for the future. Thank you for all the help you have given to me and the other UK Festoolians. I'd echo other comments in that you have gone that extra mile for many of us :D

I am flabbergasted.  I have been very busy lately with a couple of Christmas projects (Christmas 2014 that is.  I am actually ahead of my normal schedule  ::) ::)) I only just came across this shocker.  As others have stated, I will miss Shane as he leaves his old "pastime".

The only problem will be, I will have to get used to one more Nut when I visit the toystore in Mahopac.  [unsure]   ;)  Good luck to you, Shane.

I just noticed this.  I'm not sure how I missed the news before.

Thanks for your great work here Shane and good luck on whatever you do next!

I am happy that we were able to meet and talk in person when I was in Indianapolis about three years ago.

Cheers,

Congratulations on your new opportunity, Shane!  I enjoyed meeting you at the end-user classes I was in 5(?!?) years ago at Lebanon.  You have not, however, seen the last of me!  LOL!  My Mom lives in nearby Peekskill, so I will have to stop out and visit you at Tool Nut when I am parting with more cash....

Just thinking about all the wonderful times on the FOG over the years.  Openly bumping this thread.  The clock is ticking.  A few days left.  I know he will still be around, but...

Congrats on your new job. As has been posted many times already, you will be missed. Just keep a picture of Mr. Sedgeley on your new desk when you get settled in, or better yet, a Full Screen Saver on your new work computer....... I only just stumbled on this thread. I'm back in a sales role now having put down my tools a few months ago. I'm sure my MD would be ecstatic if I could perform at even 25% of your level.

It also explains some of the unusual behaviour elsewhere on the FOG at the moment. I just posted the question in all seriousness about whether or not there had been a full moon lately. I didn't realise it was much simpler than that, without your guiding hand the FOG community is worried. Looks like your successor will have to hand out several buckets/truckloads of hugs before the community stops being so needy and calms down again. You will definitely leave a massive void but I'm sure it will be filled.

Best of luck in your new venture and commiserations to your competitors. You really are a class act.
