Hello to the forum
« on: March 08, 2019, 06:59 PM »
I’d like to say hi to the forum and all the members in general.  This is my first post at FOG after being a longtime lurker and someone who’s drank the green koolaid.

Many may know my “KcFireslayer” handle from Woodnet where I’ve been a 15 year member.  I am hoping to explore more Festool options with my woodworking.

Thank you to the supporters and contributors of this forum.  I am very pleased to be a part of this group—Damon.

[welcome] to the FOG Damon. [big grin]

It's a pretty diversified mix of Festool junkies. From DIY'ers to contractors, masons, car enthusiasts, fitters, motorcycles, joiners, airplanes, gun collectors, watch enthusiasts, wooden boat builders, knife collectors, semiconductor engineers, photographers, furniture builders and there are even 1 or 2 that work in the area of nuclear energy and a doctor or two.

There aren't too many cooks around here  [sad]  but a small group of us are trying to change that.  [poke]  Even bragging about how to boil water is a small step forward.  [poke]

By far the most stunning revelation was the large number of IT people that are ardent woodworkers.  Really IT?  That was a shocker.
If you're interested, there was a thread started maybe 2-3 years ago on introducing yourself and what you do as a professional. It was a pretty interesting read.

So, if you've been at Woodnet for 15 years, what excites you and what Festools do you own?

Welcome.  I’m one of those IT people.  I did have a second job as a contractor two and a half years ago. For me building something that I can touch, and see, and others can touch and see seems to become more fulfilling as time goes on.  Most everything I have created in the IT works is obsolete or disappears and only relavent or interesting for a very short period of time, relatively speaking.
