LED mini-fan bulbs repaired
« on: April 10, 2021, 04:48 PM »
My neighbor gave me a couple of defective mini-fan LED bulbs (38W) to play with (after he had got his replacements from the seller).

I took apart the bulbs and found the defect: the wire to the base (screw thread contact) was detached. This is how I fixed them

Image 1 - Drill a small hole and feed a wire into the bulb compartment

Image 2 - Solder the feeder wire and the detached wire (white wire in the image) together

Image 3 - Solder the feeder wire to the screw threaded part

Images 4 & 5- Success!

Needless to say, it’d have been cheaper to buy them ($12 each) than fixing them (from diagnosis to soldering to assembly...I spent almost an hour and a half). But, it was fun...and very satisfying to give a new life to these bulbs.
