Just discovered:
"80/20 Surplus eBay store, is officially closing as of today, July 13, 2020. All online eBay listings will be removed and purchases will be fulfilled exclusively at 8020.net."
That's unfortunate, had plenty of great deals there over the years. Hope same will continue on their own site.
I wonder if this has to do with Ebay transition to another payment system, which left many sellers furious.

Dang, that was my go-to source. Got lots of minor cosmetic defects at good prices.

FWIW it did seem to start life as an outlet for excess/damaged/overstock and morphed into a full line-ish store. My guess is they decided to cut out the middleman and it took them some time to get their own e-store set up, then they transitioned.

Richard, it was same for me being a cheapskate. I imagine they still have excess/damaged/overstock. I hope it will be at 8020.net. However, when I checked it seems like a regular store with brand new stuff cut to size. Or am I missing something? Perhaps I'll call them.

As a buyer, I didn't know about the forthcoming payment system. I Googled and found this: https://www.imrg.org/blog/why-ebay-drops-paypal/

As long as I can continue to pay via PayPal which offers better refund protection than Ebay, I'll keep shopping there.

A few times I got the urge to look into 80/20 left me with a headache trying to decipher their catalog to figure out what I needed to buy and I'd make it out of wood, lol.

Noticed that yesterday when I went to buy a few short extrusions and couldn't find their "garage sale" store. Seems like they're really having trouble keeping up with demand, at least based on their very negative Google reviews. The good news is there are quite a bit of other options out there for extrusions. My favorite is Misumi since you can essentially generate 3D CAD files on the fly, to your custom dimensions, and import them right into your model. You can even add counterbores and other milling options for internal fasteners. Pricing is on par or better than 80/20 in my experience as well.

Went to the new store to poke around. While there are some nice features like CAD model access, they have a lot of work to do to make it user friendly. And no surplus stock to be found.

Part of getting old, but I hate it when things (that I like) change. [dead horse]

I have been chatting with 80/20 today.
They suggested their preferred suppliers. Also, I tried the store there again and it's just slow to use. You can build a wish list but if you print it out, it won't list any details of your parts, like extrusion length.
And, no lots of seconds will be listed in their store. Guess there's no mistakes or cancelled orders anymore at 80/20. I got some great deals on parts that were long enough and just had to be cut for my use.
My first use of 80/20 was with a preferred supplier. After initial emails, I sent requirements and a 2d design for them to generate parts and cost. I never heard back. Didn't answer followup emails either. Just too small for them I guess. I won't go that route again.
Tried Grainger, made up an order and took it far enough to see how that would go. It was a 2.5 week time before I could pick it up at a Grainger location in downtown. Shipping by 80/20 to me on eBay as 3 to 4 days.

I have been buying my 80/20 from McMaster. I’ve never had an order take more than 2 days to arrive.
