DF500 self centering trim accessory
« on: June 11, 2022, 05:12 PM »
This has probably been posted before but since I have only been using the DF500 for a few months there is one attachment I would find helpful. While the trim stop works great, once it's dialed in, I'm wondering if it would be possible to design one that would automatically center the domino on the stock?

Such product once existed:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/festool-domino-accessory-rts-1936614260

I don't know if anyone is still making or selling it now.

As an aside, do note that it's not necessary to dial in the trim stop to center on the workpiece's width just as it isn't needed to set the fence depth to the center of the work's thickness -- as long as the machine is set against the reference faces and sides.

Those were discontinued in favor of an improved model to come later, but it never did?
I tried to buy one when I got my first Domino, but was told to hang tight for the newer version, got nothing.

After a search, I found this: https://www.festoolownersgroup.com/festool-jigs-tool-enhancements/rts-releases-soon-to-be-released-domino-symtrax-hint/

Looks like nothing has moved since the thread that dated back 6 years ago.

Yeah, that's the guy. I waited and wondered? Didn't really go searching anymore after a while.

Seneca makes a Dock Plate XL but you still need to center it on your mortiser.

Rick Christopherson is the guy.

Here's a couple of links:

This is a link to his supplemental manuals which are very helpful.

Here is a link to the Domino stuff but they are not in stock

Here is Rick's email (maybe) you can try to contact him

I found that last night when looking through this thread, but I wouldn't say that it's entirely accurate that that they're not in stock.  Far as I can tell, they were never actually produced or released.

I love my SCG-10. I only take it off my Domino when I have to. In addition to the self-centering, it is great for making two mortises spaced as desired on the end of a rail, by using one stop at a time.

Pretty sure there are two of these on my dealer's shelf - only problem, I'm in Australia.

@Rick Christopherson any of the SCG-10 still floating around for sale?

As of 10/17 I am out of the Dog business and pursuing other distractions. Thanks for a fun ride!

I have an SCG-10 and also your remote control that still lives in my CT-26, the button control has a carabiner that I clip to a belt loop.  I use the Festool remote for my CT-36 as it makes working off a scaffold with my drywall sander.

So there's no chance of them ever happening again?
