What Festool Did You buy Today?
« on: November 30, 2014, 12:56 AM »
Im not sure if this is the right folder for this. Ive seen this sort of thread in other forums ad thought it would be cool to do here and see if you guys think the same.

I just bought a replacement hose garage for my CT 26 and a Long life bag for it.  I got tired of messing around trying to empty the regular bags in the middle of a project. The hose garage, wel lets say I had a ooopps see and cracked.it. Tried to repair it but it didnt work.  So I bought a new one.

Hehehehehe well Jeff,

We're almost there. Good timeing huh?

If everyone is like me, they are buying bits and pieces all the time.

I changed to title to "What Tool Did You Buy Today". We are always buying other manuf. tools to supplement our festools so maybe that would be more appropriate.

So How was your T day?

I bought a 2700 (114" roughly) guide rail yesterday it seemed really cheap at £143.
Almost took the domino systainer with the 456and 8mm bits but choked and didn't pull the trigger.

Systainer 2 from Amazon came with the mail (They deliver on Sunday via FedEx to USPS.)

This empty systainer was for the Router Bit Insert so courteously sent to me by Slartibartfass who didn't need the one he had. THANK YOU! [big grin]

Also got some needle size plastic tips for my CA glue dispensers. Great for inlay work and repairs of very small items! (Still fixing damage to a number of things from our household goods shipment from Germany)

Cheers,

Well, technically no Festool purchase "today" but the other day I ordered the Festool shop apron that comes in a mini Systainer, and decided to order the Festool tape measure as well.

My wife and I are trying to  go a little easy on the expenditures right now, which is kind of crazy right before Christmas.  This year has given us double whammy on expenditures.  We booked a Viking Rhine River Getaway cruise for next April, back in the summer, and our youngest daughter just got engaged, and the wedding is planned for July.  I am already writing big checks for that event.    [eek]

It may be time to start buying lottery tickets again ...

Not sure what ethnicity you are, but I would like to be apart of your family if you're paying for weddings.

I'm not getting married till 2016, but next year, the planning starts, and in my culture (Vietnamese background), the guy pays for everything and it blows!  Thank god my girlfriend is low maintenance and as said earlier, she got me a Festool T18 for our anniversary.  I'm hopefully going to seal the deal for $30,000.  Her higher maintenance older sister got married 2 years ago and the wedding cost $85,000.  What a sucker.   [big grin]

I think the Vietnamese tradition is indeed a good one!  Our oldest daughter is married, but she was quite frugal (and still is).  Total cost was about $5K.  Younger daughter has more expensive tastes, but she knows she cannot go wild. Maybe booking that Rhine River cruise was good way to set expectations that we would have to be a little tighter on budgets.  I'm guessing $15K or so.  I cannot imagine spending $85K on a wedding!

I got a Vecturo set today. I really struggled between it and the new Multimaster, but the Vecturo won simply because it comes in a systainer. Systainers are very bittersweet indeed.

The Fein SuperCut can also be purchased in a T-Loc systainer these days.
But I think you are already aware of that?
But alas the Fein has no DF version and is a SYS 1, which is a little tight.
I especially like the DF version for storing sawblades.
But the plunge-base and depth stop which include the Vecturo Set wins hands down.
Cheapest SuperCut version is €439 and the Vecturo Set version is €515. The difference is only €76.
Although I'm a big Fein fan I would also go for the Vecturo Set version.
I once read a rumour on the FOG that the SuperCut would also be upgraded and that's the reason they are now offered in a T-Loc systainer.

That's the trouble I think like that , I bought the Trion jigsaw even though I had a perfectly good Bosch ,just as it was "part of the system"

I had a go of the vecturo recently and I'm afraid I thought the new multimaster was better. Maybe after a longer play with one I might change my mind but after using them both the multimaster felt quicker ,quieter and had much less vibration.

Yeah the attachments for the vecturo and the plug-it will help sell it I'm sure.

The ONLY actual Festool item I got during the sale period was a Systainer 2 for the routing insert I now have.

Other purchases during the sale period (some on special, others not):

Parf Dogs and the small dogs (Lee Valley)
DomiPlates for my XL (Seneca on sale)
Veritas Flush cutting saw (Lee Valley on sale)
Two Super fridge magnets (Lee Valley on sale)
MFT-SP clamps from an angel on FOG (great price for new ones!)
Festool Apron in a mini-sys (ToolNut)

Monday I went to a retiring woodworker's house for a silent auction. He moved to a care facility, so was selling everything.
Scored the following:

*Six-piece set of 2-Cherries gouges in near perfect, hardly used condition - $20
*Three Piece set of brand new Craftsman Chisels - $5
*Eight graduated sized, collectable Stanley and Dunlap (all made in USA) Hand Planes AND including a brand-new, unused  Veritas Mk.II Honing Guide. Total price $35!
* 140 Back issues of Fine Woodworking, Shop Notes, Woodsmith, American Woodturner magazines - $10

There was some absolutely fabulous cherry lumber there, most boards 16ft and as wide as 16", but like an idiot, I had taken the small car and they wanted it out immediately, so I had to just look and wish. [sad]  Guy that did buy it all got an incredible steal. (about 400BF for less than $200)  [eek]

So, my sale week went well, and I'm off to Nigeria on Friday until the middle of January. Yuck! [crying]

Some Festool dealers will be pleased to hear from me around Feb 1st. I've got more green I plan to acquire then!

Cheers,

I have been wanting to build a miter saw stand fashioned after the one Peter Parfitt built and graciously shared with all of us on YouTube.  Decided to start thebuild with a new Kapex vs. building a stand for my old DeWalt.  Picked up some parallel guides at the same time.

Not a dam thing, but i have been using the heck outa my Festool the last couple weeks on a daily basis round the clock 6am to 11pm like you only do when you have a unrealistic deadline.

Im tired like fall on my face tired but not to tired to squeeze in the time to go buy a new jointer tomorrow. Not a festool but maybe just as exciting?
Kapex, MFT/3, MFT, CMS VL, 1400, TS75, Carvex420, CXS, DTS 400, Midi, CT36, RO90 and a bunch of other little junk and accessories it would be nuts to get into listing..

Received two sysport 1000's today.  Now my poor systainers have a nice cozy home where I can actually reach them easily! ;D  Only my T15 wouldn't fit, no matter how many ways I tried to configure them.  It rests comfortably on top which is actually fine since I use that drill more than any other tool I have. Might at some point have to get a 500 and then a few more things to fill that up!

I mentioned above that I recently got a Kapex.  I then decided to order a T18+3 and had my dealer get me a FastFix Depth Stop Chuck (say that ten times fast).  But now I am done for a while.  This time I mean it.  No more green kool aid in my near future.  I have what I need so no more research and no more purchases.  Seriously, this time I mean it.  I'm done for a while I really am.......

Okay guys.  What I'm about to tell you is a little....NO....it's embarrassing!   This happened this past Tuesday by the way.

Last week  I bought two T-loc systainers off eBay.   No big deal, right?

So, I get home Monday (December 15,2014) and I see a small package at my door.  I was a little unsure what it could be.

I knew the two systainers where coming soon, but thought the package was TOO SMALL for two sys-1's.

I open up the box,  it freakin'  TWO MINI SYS!!!

I quickly check my eBay profile, checked the listing and sure enough......the seller listed the dimensions of the systainers....not the size.

Now, I thought I bought two sys-1's at a great price!    Turns out, I bought two mini's at a not so great price.

I know, my fault for not reading the full description of the listing.   But I didn't want to let two "sys-1's" get away so cheap, I hurried with the "buy now" button.

Lesson learned, trust me.   I will read the description more then once!   And try to control my buying happy fingers.  LOL

hi i am new to the forum, but not new to woodworking. i have owned and operated a factory and custom cabinet shop for 37 years. the shop was destroyed in a fire in feb 2013, and now i am getting myself equipped with new toys. an mft3, a ts55, an of 1400, the 55 in. holie track and the 118 track. the lr 32 hole drilling jig.  the 36 vac, a bunch of clamps for the table. the work table went together really easily ( i watched several of your videos on u tube). was square on first setup. checked with square and by the german technology of trimming a board on all 4 sides and rotating it then checking your diagonal measurement. absolutely square. I do have to say this the ts55 is very easy to operate, but never kid yourselves i owned a Holzma EL 60 automatic panel saw that i purchased in 1985, it was a tank and nothing is easier than just pushing a button and letting it do all the work for you. lol

Ok So I Went and got the brad point drills which are in true festools fashion very good. then I got bugged after taking my work Center off my CT 22 to empty the bag.. So I went and ordered the MFH multi functional stool.

I can tell Ya the, that stool is very well made.

Its got some weight to it and the casters are top lot. Very good. Now my WC is rolling nice and easy plus I got the additional storage which is a plus.

I was a little apprehensive spending that much on a stool. But I tell Ya I'm happy with it. It will make my life easier. I won't loose any shop space because now I can hide my CT under my MFT and CMS.

Then since I was on a roll, I also got the HSX that I can hook my CT . I got the size that I can use the paper from my DTS 400 up to along with some foam backed sand paper. The foam back sand paper is one of Festools best kept secrets...

well.....

i "bought" a kapex ug set and an of1010 set on the 14th march. i thought id bought them anyway.

im still waiting for delivery. i wasnt advised itd take this long.

the shop was a part of a chain of stores in the uk. they had an opening offer of 10% off and they had price matched other places so it was a good price.

they told me id be waiting no more than 2 weeks.

a day later i realised they had charged me too much because the rep gave the store manager the wrong code. i basically got charged £75 too much.

he corrected the order

then i received the of1010 set.

it was 240v id asked for 110v and on the original order it was 110v. on the second order to correct the price it was changed to 240v.

i sent it back.

so almost a month later all i have is a 800mm guide rail.  ??? ???

does it normally take this amount of time to receive stuff?

mind you.... the job i bought it for that was put back because of the plumber now needs to be done next week.

I'd cancel the order send their stuff back to them.

 Then go with N&B.

That's who I got the stool from.

I called them yesterday, told them I'll need the stool by close of business today.

I got it about 1430 this afternoon.

No worries.

Tomorrow I pick up my MFT/3 set cross cut table, 2 Kapex tables and OF2200.
Last week was a OF1010 with every attachment.
3 weeks ago I picked up RO150 with sanding pad Systainer, Ct36 AC, LS130,  CXS,  installers set with zobo bits,  stocked up on 40,60,80,100,120,180,240,320 for my RO90, RO150, DTS 400

Next week I'm budgeting for a LR32 hole set and possibly the C15 set. Still up in the air about the drill, or the Domino 500 set.  Can you tell I'm going green in my shop
RO90, RO150, DTS 400, LS 130, CXS, TS 55 EQ, CT 36AC, OF 1400,  Parallel Guides, Kapex Miter saw,  3 MFT Kapex tables, C18

Bought a Tanos Systainer 2 / attic from Lee Valley. Never bought from them before so I hope they are reputable. Want to take the attic lid and install it on my Sys 1 that holds my CXS for my drill bits.
I did the same thing for my CXS, and went to switch lids with a MFT systainer sys 1 but found that the CXS , the lid hits the charger and will not close. This is not really a problem, the sys 2 with the extras I carry with the drill, its nice to have extra room.
I have found Lee Valley to be a very reputable company

Cordless Carvex basic kit (no battery or charger)
4x 18V batteries

$525, OTD that must be the deal of the decade for Festool.

Yes.  Festool has reduced the price of 4.2amp 18V batteries to $40.00. New price and available everywhere.

Also the TCL3 charger is now $65.00.  Both items are a significant price reduction for 2015. Not a time-limited sale.

Stock up! [big grin]

well.....

i "bought" a kapex ug set and an of1010 set on the 14th march. i thought id bought them anyway.

im still waiting for delivery. i wasnt advised itd take this long.

the shop was a part of a chain of stores in the uk. they had an opening offer of 10% off and they had price matched other places so it was a good price.

they told me id be waiting no more than 2 weeks.

a day later i realised they had charged me too much because the rep gave the store manager the wrong code. i basically got charged £75 too much.

he corrected the order

then i received the of1010 set.

it was 240v id asked for 110v and on the original order it was 110v. on the second order to correct the price it was changed to 240v.

i sent it back.

so almost a month later all i have is a 800mm guide rail.  ??? ???

does it normally take this amount of time to receive stuff?

How did you manage to order an OF1010  in 110v?  Axminster have only listed the 240v version for a few years now.

Not exactly Festool proper, but I just ordered and received the plans for Tim's MFTC, MFTB, and Sysport Workbench.  Don't know when I'll be able to get around to actually building the MFTC, but it's on my to-do list!

Also, yesterday I received three Keter adjustable leg worktables. Using them in lieu of sawhorses when needed.
Also the Kreg Foreman system.

Gotta slow down!

Alright my last one was really really cheap...but still works like Festool.
I bought the little sanding block with Velcro attached paper.
Nothing to it but I have to say it's the first one I grab for to break an edge, clean out a dado, whatever. It's rigid and just the right size, has a thin "tongue" which is great for getting in dados, and up close - it just works. I think it was less than $15.

At the 3HP level, was there a reason you went with the ICS vs the PCS?  I'm actually surprised that SawStop even offers the 3HP on the ICS.   I'm selling my 3HP PCS soon and upping to a 5HP 1-phase ICS.  It just made sense to me to have the bigger power with the bigger saw....and there's no way I could justify 3-phase power for the even bigger motors.

Not being critical, just wondering what your parameters were for purchase...

Nonetheless, if you haven't owned a SawStop before, you are in for the treat of your life!

Frank - I went with the ICS as it is beefier, seems a bit more rugged. 52" fence, mobile base and dust arm as well.

I went with 3HP as the people I talked about it with said they had various brands 3HP saws and had never had an issue, or wished for more power. The 5HP would have meant a breaker change, not a big deal at all but had to draw the line somewhere on the cost! Also had to pay sales tax and ridiculous shipping cost. The 3 vs 5HP is only a $400 difference, but I think the 3HP will serve my needs just fine. And from what I understand Saw Stop will sell a higher HP motor as an add on if I ever do need it...

They have a demo saw at the store in Reno, so I got to play with it a little, and they offer a short training session as well for purchasers.

Looking forward to getting my new toy!

I have the 5hp motor on my table saw and I never hear a pitch change when ripping 8/4 hard maple or any wood for that matter.  Sharp blades and horsepower along with proper alignment (think Woodpecker alignment gauge) and it's sweet sailing.

I have a 3HP ICS and its all good. The only time I have experienced any motor strain was ripping thick hardwood with a blade that needed to be sharpened.  I have no regrets in choosing the 3HP model.

I picked up a FS3000/2 rail from Tom B a few days ago.

Read a thread here where a few folks admitted they were clumsy and knocking things about as they maneuver the long rail around their shops.  I scoffed and laughed at their inaptitude.....

Came time to put the beast into the shop come evening (I had placed it on our patio when I got home) and promptly put the end of the rail into the patio ceiling fan, then almost knocked out the back door window entering the shop...  Thankfully, ithe rail was still in it's shipping case, and no damage to the rail or fan.....  :)

ETS 125.  Much easier to handle than the RO 125, at least as a finishing sander.
RO-125, model 2000 router, Domino 500, mini dust extractor.  Various bits & accessories & systainers.

I am only 1/2 stoked.

Today I received the DX500 tenon set, and put it under the new DX700 tenon set which I got off of ebay.
Near that is a Seneca box from a couple of weeks ago.
My SiL (Son in Law) said we would mail out the DX700 later this week...

I suppose I can start getting pieces ready and marked, as well as some test sticks to practice on.

Got back to my Florida house on Sunday to find my new LR32 Set on the doorstep!
Won't have a chance to play with it until July though. Headed back to Africa on Friday for six weeks.

So i sold my T15 & Ti15 as i wanted to condense my battery voltages to Festool 18v and the 10.8v

So after the sale i went and bought the new TXS as a replacement for my T15.  I have only used the T15 for light to medium work so felt the TXS would handle it.  The Choice to go the TXS was also a way of adding some batteries as back ups for my CSX if needed.

All heavy cutting drilling for me is done with the DRC18 and BHC18

As for the Ti15 that was replaced by a Milwaukee Impact as i already had a selection of other 18v Milwaukee tools.

Well, last week I made my first every Festool purchases, some systainers:  1 x SYS Mini, 1 x SYS 1 Box, 1 x SYS 3, 1 x SYS 4

Today I ordered 10 x SYS Mini.  I haven't quite determined how I will use them all, but know a bunch of them will be used for screw/nail organization.  2 of the 11 will be used for my GoPro stuff, but may need 3.

I'm expecting to pickup a used RO150 from someone locally, perhaps today, assuming it checks out as advertised, that would be my first official tool purchase.  Then I need to get a CT to go with it....

Well, I've just placed an order for an MFT/3.
I've been on the fence about getting one for a few years now but taking the plunge now. I've made do with my rather traditional workbench for some time and served me well but with its own limitations. It's a lot of money for a table and short rail, so I'm sure hoping it will get a lot of use.
I'm a bit anxious over whether I should have spent the money on that or something else....like a nice Jointer instead.  [unsure]

Today I received/bought absolutely doodly squat.

But yesterday, I received my parallel guides from Precision Dogs.  I intend to assemble and use them this holiday weekend to see how they compare to the Festool guides.

I guess I might as well do the same with the Incra/Seneca set I've had for several months still sitting unassembled and unused.

I think it will be nice to have one set hooked up to my FS3000 rail and the other set available for cross-cutting perhaps, or one set of guides set up with longer guides, the other with shorter guides.

Which will leave one set to put up for sale.  That will leave me a few days to decide if I like either/both the Precision Dogs and/or Seneca guides, or if I should once again look at the Woodpeckers OTT guides.

A 48 tooth TS-55 blade, thats what happens when you wait to long to send blades out to be sharpened. Packed and shipped 19 blades to Leitz for service today. Order 2 Kapex blades from Tom-------overnighted.

The items I ordered the other day would make most cringe. Most are due here tomorrow also, the rest has to wait for July 1 to ship.

@TheTrooper;

This was my previous sharpening list. Their receipt does not break down cost per item. The total cost with shipping to and from Grand Rapids via UPS was $100.00.

To whom it may concern,

Enclosed you will find;

1- Festool 19 mm straight flute router bit

6- Festool 48 tooth saw blades for the TS-55

1- Festool 60 tooth saw blade for the Kaoex

Please sharpen and return them to the address shown above and below. I would really appreciate if you could return them in the original sleeves as I have shipped them. I store my blades hanging from the sleeve.

I was cutting cement board with one of the blades, hopefully it is salvageable.

I will be paying the invoice via credit card. My phone number is in the address blocks.

Thank you,

Tom

Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while learning a lot. I've had the TS55 and CT Midi for a couple months now and I was instantly hooked to Festool. I pulled the trigger the other night on the OF 1400 and an ETS 150/3 from Bob. Can't wait to get them! Looking at getting the Domino 500 pretty quick as well.

It never ends!

I've checked out this site several times over the past few months but was finally able to purchase some Festool products this past week.  Had a local cabinet shop go out of business and auction off their equipment.  They had tons of machinery, tools, and lumber so of course I ended up spending more than I expected but picked up the following tools:

Rotex with a couple of boxes of 220 grit pads
TS 55 EQ Track Saw with 55" and 118" rails, 3 clamps, and 3 extra blades
Domino 500Q
Systainer for Dominos and two additional 500 count boxes of size 8 and 10 dominos.

They had several ETS 125-EQ sanders and a MIDI but the price on those was close enough to retail pricing that I would rather pay a little extra and get it new even though the tools probably would've still been worth it.  Everything in the shop was in great condition and you could tell the guys that had it took care of everything.  The rails I got with the track saw even came in a poplar box they made to protect them from getting dinged up or bent.

Oh I'm sure of that,  I've always hated using a biscuit joiner so I've had the Domino on my wish list for a long time.  I've been using a Grizzly track saw for the past few months and love it but I managed to snag the TS 55 with everything for not much more than what the 118" rail retails for.  Once my wife forgets how much I spent at this auction I'll probably pick up a 125 EQ and a CT next.  I really wanted the MIDI they had at the auction but it went for $50-$60 less than a brand new one.

Did you get the conturo?

No, not this time.

A lot of little things on my add/fix/need list,

TSC, PDC, Cordless Carvex (all sets), from Tom.

A set of phenolic straight edges with corners.

The 2200 and bits that were offer in the classified.

Had 2 specialty Kapex blades over nighted, they arrived today. Need to plan better.

I did keep it under a 10K Friday (barley).

The Conturo has been moved to next in line.

Oh yah, I dropped something one of my 1400 rails today, dented and bent the C channel, had to change the TCS to with rail.

Did I ever mention I love my wife [thumbs up]

Good thing my neighbors love me, had a semi, UPS and FedEX here all at the same time. Street was unappeasable.

Stacks of Systainers (mini's and a few of the other ones purchased a few weeks ago)

A systainer 1, the one with all the small colorful boxes inside.
Will use the small boxes in my drill systainers to keep bits and pieces.

This month I poured a crate of Festool Koolaid all over the wallet and ended up getting the updated EHL65, another OFK500, a trimming attachment for the CS50 table saw, bought a bunch of drills, a MIDI systainer and just as I though I was bled dry the local pusher literally ran after me and told me they were selling out the T12+3 and C12 sets at less than HALF the price (!) and he thought of me when he put the stickers up that morning.

= two more boxes loaded into the car. All this on my first day on vacation.  [embarassed]
Festool:  CS 50EB precisio set, Domino DF500, DF XL 700, OFK500 edge router, OF1010 router EHL65 planer, CTL Mini/Midi Vac, CTL 26 vac MFT800+1080 tables
DSC-AG Grinder,  RAS 115
Rotex 150, ETS EC 150/5 RTS400
Drills: T18, BHC18, CXS.
SysLite KAL II, SYS Rock.
Sys- and Sortainers galore.

Line up has been reduced with the introduction of Mafell/Metabo tools. Red Green and Blue do mix well in the shop.

I would be interested how you get on with the adaptor, I purchased the 700 a couple of weeks ago , I also have the 500  and  I am curious how many 700 owners get by with just the 700.

  Thanks.

I have used "just the 700" for years. I really like it in all aspects. The adapter is great and for box work I mainly stick to 5 and 6mm bits. It hasn't steered me wrong yet!

I would say that the only complex task is if you have to make a mortise in the field of a panel (to attach a shelf/etc). It takes a little more thinking and if you do it enough, you will come up with some jigs to make it easier.

I love the heft of the machine and how smooth it all works.

If you do a lot of mixed work (doing 5 & 6mm work plus some 10mm work) on a single project, then a single 700 might become a PITA pretty quick. If not, it is a great medium without any real compromises.

Oh, and if you mostly do 4mm stuff, stick with a 500.

Cheers. Bryan.

I had both a DF500 and a DF700XL until I got the Seneca Adapter and Domishims, now all I have is the DF700XL.

I use it for everything and even use a lot of the 4mm Dominos with it with no issues, just plunge very slowly. As the 4mm cutter is quite a bit shorter than the other DF500 cutters you need to set the cut to 20mm plunge depth to get a 10mm deep hole for the 4mm Domino.

didn't get it quite today, a few weeks ago, actually, the Syslite Uni.  Never thought I would pay over a $100 for a flashlight when you include the battery but it's well worth it. Had to do some work under the kitchen sink and it cast great light onto the subject.  My wife even lets me keep in the kitchen pantry!  ;D

@Alex
I'm using it to just break the edge on maple and oak boards before I sand them. Kind of like deburring metal, just a different twist. It works better on maple than oak because of the grain. Will try it on some Brazilian cherry next.

And what is that gem in the picture?

Interesting, don't own a RO 150... just a RO 125 so the part you showed was indistinguishable from my perspective. Interesting though, from what I've been reading here, the 150 series is supposed to be much smoother than the 125 series. Just what I need...another fricken sander.

Nothing today but 2 weekends ago I picked up my 1st Festools. A TS 75 and a MF T/3. Then last weekend I picked up the OF 1400 and the CT 36. I'm very excited and wondering why I waited so long. Luckily I have been able to unload some old tools on Craigslist to help pay for my new favorites.  James

Oh, where to start!  [big grin]

I recently started renovating my house. Here in Switzerland, it's so horrendously expensive to hire craftsmen (you might face USD 100 or more an hour even for very simple work - I was quoted USD 5000 to get two flights of stairs sanded...), so I decided to just bite the bullet and learn to do stuff myself.

I initially got a Trion and RTS 300 super cheap (75% off at my local store, must have been some deadstock as they usually don't carry Festool) and realized how good these tools were in comparison to my old Einhell and Bosch stuff I had since before for fixing minor things around the house. So now I'm redoing the kitchen and got the T 18+3, OF 1010 and am currently waiting for a Rotex 150 for some stairs and very minor concrete touch-up.

Given all the tools I have now, I decided I might as well take up woodworking as a hobby; I grew tired of computer games a few years ago and need to fill those precious few hours of free time with something rewarding.

Finally got myself a proper vac, a CT 26 and a box of dust bags for it. Took a month and a half to get to my shore but hey it was worth the wait, no more leaning down turning a vac on and off again.

The CTL Midi Vac, because i recently bought a DF500 and a OF1010, and they are producing a lot of dust. I still think, maybe the CTL Sys would have been better, because of its size and flexibility, but then i think also, this (ctl midi)is the best solution because of the capacity.

My husband is very happy with all the research I've done and the new toys, I mean tools, that I procured for him. Bits and pieces have been coming in because I got the Planex with an extra extention used yesterday and the Ultimate Dust Deputy came a few days ago. The motherload come today:
Midi Dust Extractor
Planex hose and harness
Pad sets
DTS 400
Plenty of sanding grit to keep us going for a while. Thanks to Tom for the assortment package  [big grin]

I know there's a 15 year old boy in the house that can't wait for us to put it to good use and finish up his room reno.

Thank you all for being so helpful to me!

No more rail joining!  Bought the 118" rail.  I cut way too many full sheets...96" and 120".  Also bit the bullet on  the 2200 as I was able to buy the metric accessory kit, new in old style systainer, for $190.00.  Anybody want to buy a PC 7518?  I am keeping the one in my Benchdog table raiser.

Nice...

But I'm curious, it looks like you went with a full length NA style fence. I thought Europeans prefer a half fence that is adjusted to just clear the rear of the blade.
I'm curious why you chose a full length fence?
The reason I'm asking is because I have both extrusions. I used to use the full length and changed to the half fence.

I'm going to receive one of my larger orders in a few days..

Sys Roll

Sys 1 Box

Systainer 4x2, plan to make my own inserts like the SYS-HWZ

Sortainer Sys 3-Sort 4

Battery pack for my Ti impact driver 15v 5.2Ah

DC UNI FF depth stop chuck for the PDC 18 drill, works with the CSX drill too..

Festool 18V HKC 55 Li 5.2 EB Plus FSK 420

the FSK 250

Extra blade for the HKC 55 W32.

I mixed up some originization elements with some long wanted accessories for the drills I own, the SYS-Roll will come in handy for getting around to jobs I have within 10min. walking distance.

As the price list got larger I dumped getting the Syslite KAL 2, Sys toolbox 1 and 2, etc. I think though I've got a good mix of tools and organisation and accessories..

Probably won't get much else before Christmas.. Then I'll be looking for either a OF2200 or a Domino..
TS 55 R EBQ, Vecturo OSC, BHC SDS, RO 150, 850 HL E Planer, MFS 400x2, MFS extensions MFS VB 700 x 1 MFS VB 1000 x 2 . CMS GE, OF 2200, CMS OF+ CMS TS 75 insert modules. SYS-MFT Fixing-Set,

Rotex 90 and 300 pads for delta and 90mm - so if I had bought one of the cheap type of sanders with far inferior dust collection 0 the pad costs offset the cost of the Rotex to about £90 :)

So i finally broke down and joined the systainer crowd.   I already had a taste of the systainers when i bought my Domino 500 and the box of dominos.   Thankfully the dominos did not come with dots.  Since i liked the design, and I had a number of tools that needed a better home than a shelf I ordered a Sys 1, Sys 2 and Sys 3 with foam insets.

I plan to create a rolling cart to house this in, along with a few more, once i can get approval from the boss  [smile]

I've been looking for a second sander that's a bit easier to handle for long periods of time than my RO150... I've been debating between the various new ETS EC models.  I definitely wanted one of the /3 models, but was debating between the 125 and 150.  Then when I realized I could use the same sandpaper on the ETS 150 and RO150, it was a no brainer.

I found a shop online who claimed to have 8 in stock, so I should have mine in hand on Monday.  Apparently they weren't told of the October 1 release date  8)

Used but not abused - a Sym 70 surfaced at a great price. It took about a minute to Plug It:

Cuts nicely, weighs next to nothing and within its limitations a great little saw. :)
Festool:  CS 50EB precisio set, Domino DF500, DF XL 700, OFK500 edge router, OF1010 router EHL65 planer, CTL Mini/Midi Vac, CTL 26 vac MFT800+1080 tables
DSC-AG Grinder,  RAS 115
Rotex 150, ETS EC 150/5 RTS400
Drills: T18, BHC18, CXS.
SysLite KAL II, SYS Rock.
Sys- and Sortainers galore.

Line up has been reduced with the introduction of Mafell/Metabo tools. Red Green and Blue do mix well in the shop.

Where did you get it guys? I mean MFT3.

From dealers,Bob Marino,ToolNut...?

One of the considerations when buying the MFT/3 online is the possibility of shipping damage.  Perhaps other dealers will chime in, but I personally bought mine from Bob Marino and it was double boxed to protect it.  I shouldn't recommend one dealer over another, so if other dealers make similar shipping and boxing enhancements perhaps they will post here.

Used but not abused - a Sym 70 surfaced at a great price. It took about a minute to Plug It:

Cuts nicely, weighs next to nothing and within its limitations a great little saw. :)

I so want one of these....I wish they were available here....

Peter,thanks!

Thats exactly what I'm worrying about - shipping damage!

I just bought PDC 18/4 drill from Bob Marino and it packaged very well, systainer packaged absolutely great,BUT some accessories inside systainer was not securely fit, making some scratches and etc.,Festool fault for sure.

Hi Folks, new to the forum.
I finally took the plunge and purchased a TS55 and various guide rails yesterday.
I'll be looking at getting either a CT26 or Midi in the next few weeks.

I anticipate the main use to be cutting the borders on parquet floors but who knows I might start making all sort of things once I get used to its capabilities.

The bullet was bit. Finally fully entered myself into (after several weeks of waiting) the green kool-aid. Picked up a CT26, RO90 and got my ETS EC 150/3 all good to go, with hard pads for the 90 and 150, and 6 boxes of sandpaper (80, 150 and 220 for each size for now). Discover was more than happy to ding my phone about "purchase over specified amount" enough times as a result, hehe.

I'll be honest though... I couldn't handle reading through 10 pages to post my excitement :D hahaha. I'll be having a very fun day sanding tomorrow.

I picked up an angle unit today.  It was backordered and came in this week.  I have seen mixed reviews on this, mostly that it does not stay tight.  I played with it just a little and it seems to stay tightened when I set it on an angle.  I want to get an MFT table eventually which has a better angle unit, but need to save up money for that, so hopefully this will work fine until then.

So my wife wants me to build a new garden bench which is going to require a lot of 1x4 slats getting joined together.  I have a DowelMax but was thinking a Domino would be a lot quicker and less stress.   ;D  We don't have the design finalized yet but I'm not sure how often I'm going to need it going forward.  Should I pull the trigger?

Yes I would buy the Domino (I have both Domino machines) and after 40 years of woodworking the only joints that I've seen failed (in commercial high end furniture) were dowel joints in Danish modern furniture.

Several books like "Understanding Wood" by R. Bruce Hoadley and others explain in technical detail why dowel joints fail.  Get the Domino joiner, you won't be sorry.

Kev yeah I reckon the awkward way to set and reset the saws angle true is surely in need of updating, since they have done it with the HKC you would have to believe in doing it to their ts saws soon. That'll give me a new dilemma, do you sell and update or just stick with what otherwise is a great saw anyway.

I fear you can get into the update frenzy too easily these days. I find the TS55 fine on the tracks for what I do. If they bring something out that makes the process better I'll consider it, but it would need to be significant. I though I'd be inclined to rush out and grab the new ETS150 EC's as soon as I saw them .. but my current ETS150's are still excellent machines and to my surprise I've been sensible [scared] [eek]

To keep On Topic:
After renting (and paying way too much for) a concrete sander and vac I updated my grinder park and got me the DSC AG 125 with diamond tile cutter and hood and the diamond concrete grinder shroud. Put it to work immediately and I am very pleased. :)

(though the Systainer/grinder has a very foul smell to it and it hasn't aired out just yet)

Hah! My guess it's no longer a question of "if?"  - now it's simply a matter of "when?".

... same boat for me.

Hope I can find a soft copy of that magazine [smile]

I came home from the Felder showroom with the 400+ page catalogue last week. So far I've managed to keep it free of drool [embarassed]

Not today, but last 10 days, a 150mm Rotex, Syslite, LS130. I always add quite a few extras for the tools. Just starting to take paid jobs, do some job, buy some more.. hehe. Next will be some more systainers for sand-paper, and other tools

Finally got my Sys 4 Sort 3 after quite a long wait. I got one set of small organizing boxes and dividers. I think it's a very useful thing and plan on getting another as well as a couple of Sys combis, probably one of each version..

YES PLEASE, do tell us what you think of the Syslite Duo:) Personnally I really wonder if it is too much in a small room.
Here are a few of my first experiences with the Syslite DUO.
- No ON/OFF switch on the light, just unplug the cord instead
- No dimmer or variable light settings
- A lot of lumen for the bucks
- Very bright/clean light
- Multiple positions possible when on the floor or hanging from a screw/nail
- Delivered in systainer SYS 3 (Plus/Set versions only)
- Power cord can be wrapped around the base
- Very sturdy tripod
- No strap for the tripod
- Power cord is neatly connected to tripod down to the floor.
I'm really fond of lights on the job site and when you get older you need more light.
It once started with the battery powered drills, jigsaws, etc. and the Syslite KAL has become my favourite for small spaces and now this Syslite DUO will become my favourite to lighten large spaces.

It easier for me to direct you to a (famous) Dutch website where a lot of pictures are taken for a review of the DUO.
But the FOG doesn't let me post the right link to the website? It's "banned".
If you google on "review Festool Duo lamp" it will show up somewhere on the first page.
If necessary Google can help you to translate the Dutch text.

Yes indeed it's a nice collection and still growing. It's collected over the last 15 years.
I use and buy them on a professional basis as a private housing renovator and furniture craftsman.
And Germany are our neighbours and some machines and accessories are way cheaper there (±40-50%).
Some I use everyday (drills, saws) and some only once a year and then it's nice to have them in the cupboard.
But the amount of systainers becomes a problem in my workshop now.

Ls130 with extras, a ETS EC 150/3. And interface for RO90 & RO150, more grits for all sanders. A good day:). Next should probably be systainer so for sandpaper. And building a couple of sysports suited to move to external workplaces.

That bohrstaub d27-bsd. Is that the one that they or Starmix have copied.  Because i have that one from Starmix.  And it really works perfectly. Making holes in concrete without dust. Even when you are maken holes in the ceiling above you.

Here one man's "nuts" is another man's "normal".

By the way, hope you got the right domino to match your router for the MFT table setting .. 2200 goes with the 700, otherwise you'll need to buy a 1400 router to match a 500 domino and a 700 domain for the 2200 [huh]

... and remember, if you put anything on the
