This is another thread about the great deal on 18V batteries but I picked up a

Cordless Carvex basic kit (no battery or charger)
4x 18V batteries

$525, OTD that must be the deal of the decade for Festool.

Is there a special on batteries?

Yes.  Festool has reduced the price of 4.2amp 18V batteries to $40.00. New price and available everywhere.

Also the TCL3 charger is now $65.00.  Both items are a significant price reduction for 2015. Not a time-limited sale.

Stock up! [big grin]

Replacement batteries....one of my pet peeves. Is there another aspect of power tools with more price gouging, industry wide. Don't kid yourselves. Festool is still making money even at that price as would any other supplier with any kind of market demand for its batteries.

well.....

i "bought" a kapex ug set and an of1010 set on the 14th march. i thought id bought them anyway.

im still waiting for delivery. i wasnt advised itd take this long.

the shop was a part of a chain of stores in the uk. they had an opening offer of 10% off and they had price matched other places so it was a good price.

they told me id be waiting no more than 2 weeks.

a day later i realised they had charged me too much because the rep gave the store manager the wrong code. i basically got charged £75 too much.

he corrected the order

then i received the of1010 set.

it was 240v id asked for 110v and on the original order it was 110v. on the second order to correct the price it was changed to 240v.

i sent it back.

so almost a month later all i have is a 800mm guide rail.  ??? ???

does it normally take this amount of time to receive stuff?

How did you manage to order an OF1010  in 110v?  Axminster have only listed the 240v version for a few years now.

Plus last weekend i bought the BHC18 with battery - under the free battery offer.  [big grin]  And a 2nd battery and charger.

Not exactly Festool proper, but I just ordered and received the plans for Tim's MFTC, MFTB, and Sysport Workbench.  Don't know when I'll be able to get around to actually building the MFTC, but it's on my to-do list!

Also, yesterday I received three Keter adjustable leg worktables. Using them in lieu of sawhorses when needed.
Also the Kreg Foreman system.

Gotta slow down!

You'.. Like that MFTC. last year at my BBQ brought his for us to check out, man it is sweet. I think he's gonna bring it again this year so those that haven't seen one can lust after it.

Alright my last one was really really cheap...but still works like Festool.
I bought the little sanding block with Velcro attached paper.
Nothing to it but I have to say it's the first one I grab for to break an edge, clean out a dado, whatever. It's rigid and just the right size, has a thin "tongue" which is great for getting in dados, and up close - it just works. I think it was less than $15.

At the 3HP level, was there a reason you went with the ICS vs the PCS?  I'm actually surprised that SawStop even offers the 3HP on the ICS.   I'm selling my 3HP PCS soon and upping to a 5HP 1-phase ICS.  It just made sense to me to have the bigger power with the bigger saw....and there's no way I could justify 3-phase power for the even bigger motors.

Not being critical, just wondering what your parameters were for purchase...

Nonetheless, if you haven't owned a SawStop before, you are in for the treat of your life!

Cheers,

Frank - I went with the ICS as it is beefier, seems a bit more rugged. 52" fence, mobile base and dust arm as well.

I went with 3HP as the people I talked about it with said they had various brands 3HP saws and had never had an issue, or wished for more power. The 5HP would have meant a breaker change, not a big deal at all but had to draw the line somewhere on the cost! Also had to pay sales tax and ridiculous shipping cost. The 3 vs 5HP is only a $400 difference, but I think the 3HP will serve my needs just fine. And from what I understand Saw Stop will sell a higher HP motor as an add on if I ever do need it...

They have a demo saw at the store in Reno, so I got to play with it a little, and they offer a short training session as well for purchasers.

Looking forward to getting my new toy!

I have the 5hp motor on my table saw and I never hear a pitch change when ripping 8/4 hard maple or any wood for that matter.  Sharp blades and horsepower along with proper alignment (think Woodpecker alignment gauge) and it's sweet sailing.

I have a 3HP ICS and its all good. The only time I have experienced any motor strain was ripping thick hardwood with a blade that needed to be sharpened.  I have no regrets in choosing the 3HP model.

I picked up a FS3000/2 rail from Tom B a few days ago.

Read a thread here where a few folks admitted they were clumsy and knocking things about as they maneuver the long rail around their shops.  I scoffed and laughed at their inaptitude.....

Came time to put the beast into the shop come evening (I had placed it on our patio when I got home) and promptly put the end of the rail into the patio ceiling fan, then almost knocked out the back door window entering the shop...  Thankfully, ithe rail was still in it's shipping case, and no damage to the rail or fan.....  :)

Guess I forgot to let yas know,

I just picked up a C18. I used it a couple of times and it's a nice bit of kit.
