I figured you guys would like this for my first post. Picked these up last weekend from a guy who used to do demos for Festool.

Ordered the MFS 2000 rails, now have the complete system. I haven't needed this size yet but as I have used all the other sizes, I figure it's just a matter of time. I know these have gotten somewhat of a bad rap, as long as care is taken during assembly and adjustment, they are great. I bought two sets from Amazon Warehouse, both were advertised as new, but both had some damage. Amazon discounted the cost on the first set, but would not on the second. I work with aluminum all the time so I kept and repaired both as I was not going to full price for them.

Yes everything was in very good shape. Let's just say that it was a good enough deal that after we left, my girlfriend even commented that it was a good price!
On a similar note, I'd like to take his name off the systainers. Anyone have any advice for how to remove sharpie without messing up the plastic?

Try using a citrus based cleaner. Often that will greatly reduce the obvious, I've also used acetone judiciously.

Clear spray on sunblock. It will wipe right off.

It might be better to leave it on??
If they get pinched, there is a higher than average chance someone would know him.

wood is awesome and Festool makes it great for hobby work, just bought the Centrotec drilling set and ordered the c-18 drill. Can't wait for next week.

I got a C18 yesterday lunchtime, by lunchtime today I already broke it

. All I did was drop it 7 foot off a stud wall. Those locking collars are definitely made of monkey metal

One of the reasons I purchased the C18, and not the T18, was the idea I could rig up a hook to use over framing (or a ladder), and "hang" the drill, rather than try and balance it. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Is something like that covered under the warranty or 30 day return policy?

I'm certainly not one to blindly defend Festool, but to be fair, a 7ft drop isn't insignificant!

The best way to remove sharpie that I've found is to use 90 percent idopropyl alcohol or denatured alcohol. Either might due the job, isopropyl is probably less likely to contain additives that could harm the plastic. Sharpie ink is supposedly shellac based.

Be very carefull with citrus based cleaners. I was once told by my boss to remove a mess from some old plastic items he had purchased. My boss handed me citrus bssed cleaner to do the job. The citrus cleaner melted the plastic and basically destroyed the surface.

Acetone should also be used cautiously. I slmost melted the handles on some of my favorite screwdrivers when I wanted to clean them. I'm not sure whether acetone would cause any problems for the ABS the systainers are made from.

The safest thing to remove permanent marker, with no damage to the surface below, is a cheap can of deodorant spray (not anti-perspirant). Then used a tooth brush to get into the grain of the plastic.

I'm certainly not one to blindly defend Festool, but to be fair, a 7ft drop isn't insignificant!

I agree that a 7' drop isn't insignificant, still it is not out of what I would say is "normal use". What I mean by a drop of 7-8' as normal use is that almost all cordless drills are designed to withstand a certain amount of "abuse". Falls are unavoidable in normal professional use so the drills have to survive or no one would buy them.

My experience with the 5 Festool drills I've owned over 8 years has been outstanding. My drills have survived nasty falls with only superficial damage. I think these drills are tough, still, it only takes a bit of bad luck for your drill to land the wrong way to do real damage.

, not the drill. I can't say I'm surprised the locking collar broke and meant the monkey metal comment as a bit tongue in cheek. The drill and angle attachment are working fine so all in all impressed that it took such a drop, onto lime screed without any serious damage. I've ordered two spare locking collars. One to fix it and one for the next time I do something stupid.

Ironically I know from countless similar experiences not to put tools on high places I'm working on, particularly when vibrating the thing to death with a multi-tool.

I feel your pain , I had a four day old Hitachi impact drill Slide off a two-story roof to the ground . I eBay to a new housing and put it back together and here I am 10 or 12 years later still with the same drill .

Got the centrotec installers kit this week. I'm building a new deck for the garden and this has been great so far. I also ordered the surfix kit. Been meaning to get this for a while but couldn't quite press the button. It seems impressive from the test piece of oak flooring I tried. Do people tend to use an alternative oil/wax for flooring or stick with the festool oil?

I stole a bunch of tools today. At gunpoint but I'm a big strong guy so it would have been no contest. I'm sorry be be a douche but I'm a little ticked from a different thread and feel while I should be happy I got a too good to be true deal that I should know better. Good post though, other than my stolen items I purchased the vac clamp, contoro edge banding system an bunch of mft3 accessories( not all festool)
A 55" track, 4 clamps, woodpecker square, 36" straight edge, 24" t square, 12" t square, 12" ruler, 24" ruler, ruler hook, ruler stop. Wixey planer gauge, dewalt dw735 with free stand. I think that's all I got

Just bought a CMS VL only no modules, since I already own 3 module and made a couple of more, having the 2nd CMS will come in real handy. Only downside side is it only in 240V so I have to get a 110V switch oder to use my NA tools
