Stopped by the local Woodcraft store and they had 7 different Festool tools that were on sale because they were still in the older Systainers. Picked up this set of Domino XL connectors for $60 off, everything's still shrink wrapped.  [smile]

That would depend on which attorney you contact.  [big grin]

The new socket/ratchet set showed up today. I was expecting it tomorrow, but when the shipping/receiving lady came walking my way with a big smile, I knew it came early.
I got the installer's set too, the imperial version. I've been looking at them for a while and pulled the trigger on both at once and Hartville Hardware was so nice that they sent me a little Summer 22 buyers guide booklet along with it. So nice of them to encourage me [huh]

Sold my CT26 to a friend of mine and used the proceeds to help pay for a CT Midi and a CXS off of festoolrecon.

Also just got this zero clearance insert from Betterley for my kapex.

Going to put it all to work tomorrow!

Surprised me that they didn't bump that one to a Sys3 137  [big grin]
Like the RTS 400; Used to be in Systainer Classic I, then in T-Loc 1, then in T-Loc 2 and now in Sys3 M 187. I'm not exactly sure why the box had to be 70mm higher than 15 years ago for what is basicly the same sander. Oh wait... they made a single inlay for RTS, DTS, ETS. Just as they did with the sandpaper Systainer inlay; more wasted space! That fits right with the competition (Bosch L-Boxx inlays), but it used to be... superior product for higher price.

So stupid with the handle sticking out. All hail Bott!

How does your Midi behave? If you put it manual on, then attach a machine to CT outlet, run attached machine, stop attached machine... does the vac keep running or not?

Why would you swap from a CT26 to a Midi? I can see not buying the bigger one in the fir$t place, but once you have it?
Just because it is smaller and more portable? or that it has held it's value enough to get enough money back out of it?

If you need to be mobile, the Midi is a lot easier than the 26. Especially if the 26 has a full bag.

Oh yeah, I'm aware of the weight, especially when I do a lot of solid surface work. That stuff is very dense. Just the bag alone is hefty enough to notice when carrying it to the dumpster. But I'm not mobile, my main unit sits in a cubbie and I use one that belongs to the company for work the is beyond the reach of the other one.

That the Midi has Bluetooth built-in might be one reason. I recently picked up a CT26 to park in my shop, dedicating the Midi to site use. The BT module/button upgrade was a must. Somewhat relatedly, I didn't notice much of a bump in suction. They're both great vacuums, so this seems like a good swap to me.

Finally got the undulating head and fine head for the hl850 planer. I have all three now so I am golden. But I'm still waiting on a couple more items for the df700. I wish I had seen Cheese's post sooner as I was up in the cities and might have had time to pop in and see what was left at the store.

You can add BT to a 26.

Yeah, I did that so long ago, I forgot it was an add-on.

My original reason for asking was that it seemed like a lateral move? unless there was a specific reason like a space constraint that changed, like a new van with a different interior layout.
The suction is effectively the same on all of them, the differences are about capacity and details like auto-clean and bluetooth etc

A BS 75 with the frame (E-Set). I don't have the space for a drum sander, but wanted a non-manual alternative to my Veritas jointer plane to flatten large panels. I have seen lots of people mention this machine as very good for that purpose. Can't wait to put it to work.

I used to have a shop I worked out of and used the ct26 in the shop. Now I’m 90% mobile working out of a company van. I set up on one of our sites and I’m there anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple of months. Occasionally I work in our shop. I have a ct Sys, a mini and now the midi, The three of them fit in my van with all my other tools, the ct26 just took up too much space. I use long life bags is all three of them,  cheaper in the long run because I empty them all several times a week. I think all the dust extractors have pretty much the same amount of suction so the model doesn’t matter when it comes to performance.

Especially if the 26 has a full bag.

This ^^^^^^

I normally have mine hooked up to a CT-VA-20, but decided just to take the 26 to a recent job to save space and time. Rather than being the quick in-and-out that I expected, I discovered that an entire 4-metre-wide concrete step had to be chiselled out, resulting in a ridiculous amount of unforeseen mineral dust/small rubble to suck up. The resulting end-of-the-day weight of that machine was off the scale. How anyone would deal with a full CT48 in that situation is beyond me.

Interesting the inlay still shows what appears to be a vac sys accessory  :'(.

Plenty of space in that new systainer for spare belts! More so than in the classic version that's for sure.

That 90 degree plastic "thingy" is indeed an adapter for a vacuum. I haven't used it yet, so I can't tell you how good the dust control is when connected to the vac.

I would estimate that about 50% of the volume of that systainer is just air. That thing is huge! But, like you said, that space can be used for spare belts.

Festool has Rubin2 belts up to P150 for this beast, but I am seriously thinking of buying some higher grid belts in Germany. They go up to P600, but that is a bit too much for my needs.  [eek]

I'm quite impressed with the quality of the festool belts, just need to keep an eye on the price!

Re the vac-sys, was referring to the little photo on the lid cardboard inlay. It was discontinued.. we live in hope that was just temporary.

The belt sander+sanding frame is a fantastic tool but more useful at the lower grits that really shape the wood’s surface. Once you get to 220 grit the tool’s particular features are increasingly less significant. At 320 grit and above I’d switch to an random orbit sander.

Thanks Michael for confirming that. Festool's finest grid (P150) seemed to be too coarse to me, but P600 seemed to be bordering on madness.   [blink]  I was thinking of P180 and/or P240 and was doubting P320.

Not today, but I saw a CMS table widener on Amazon for 150 € bucks including shipping and tax, so snatched it.

It should fit the CS 50 too, but then the scale is off (big deal  [tongue])
