Can you get the extrusions themselves as replacement parts? I managed to damage one of mine by over-plunging until the router collet hit the extrusion and marred the scale. I've seen replacement part numbers for all the accessories, but not for the extrusion struts.

Nope, the rails are not available as spares, just some smaller items like connectors and fasteners. You can still purchase MFS sets from Europe.  [smile]

If it's just the extrusions that you need, I believe that the "Template for Closed or Open Stairs" by Virutex uses the same extrusions.  The full set is only about tree-fiddy and appears to include a pair each of 200, 400, and 700 extrusions.  You don't get the fancy add-ons that come with the MFS 400/700 sets like the wide-span rest and edge guides (and 3mm hex?), but if you already have those, it might be a good way to get more extrusions.

You might even try contacting Virutex to see if they sell individual extruded pieces.

I make no guarantees at compatibility, of course, just passing along knowledge I gleaned from the last time I researched this on the FOG.

The Virutex offerings are similar but are not exactly the same extrusion. Consequently, will they stand in as an alternative…maybe or maybe not.

I can order a new MFS set imported from Europe for $300, so that's the route I'd be more likely to go down. But the damage to my existing extrusions is pretty minor, and cosmetic, not functional, so I'm more inclined to simply live with it as a reminder to be more careful in the future.

Re: What Festool did you buy today, Surfix anyone?
« Reply #1984 on: July 19, 2021, 10:19 AM »
Well it appears to be official, Surfix products are no longer available from Festool USA.  [sad]  I originally ordered some Surfix product from Woodcraft in December/January and through a series of mistakes & missed communication from both parties, Festool finally announced to Woodcraft that they no longer had inventory of the items and would not be receiving any from Germany.

However, Woodcraft went the extra distance and called up their other franchises and put together the list of items I originally ordered.  [big grin] [thumbs up]

So, the only Surfix items still available from Festool appear to be the 5L containers of oil, all other items are MIA.

This is a good point.  As long as you're not in a hurry, it may be a good option.

When I saw the price of the missing pieces for my MFS set, I decided that just getting another full set from Amazon UK was the way to go.  The order was placed on July 6 and still hasn't shipped.  It currently has an estimated arrival date of "July 25 - Sept 10".  Last week, the delivery window said "Unknown arrival date", so I suppose it's a step in the right direction.

Very nice. Looks fatter though.

Nice lid insert.

Quit a bunch of empty space above it. The magic of Sys3 I suppose.

Can you fit more accessories in the bottom insert?

That is the Fine Adjustment FE-FS/OF 1000 #488754

I have one in the Classic Systainer with my OF 1010, in the small

Just like here;

(not the red arrow, but in the 'hole' top right), although I store the rods similar. 99/100 times I use the rods it's for guide rail use or side-mounted dust extracting, not the parallel guide

Big spender here, investing the whole of my £25 micro-lottery win on equipment.

A new 1/4" collet for my OF2200, for use with the new Sautershop 32mm shelf pin hole routing jig which just arrived today. I have absolutely no idea what happened to my old one.

Beat that.
