Before I buy, any comments on this setup?  Would really like to hear from owners of the Porter Cable system and others.

consider workpiece thickness, cuz they are specific, the first template i bought was for the small dovetail, wish i had purchased the larger, having said that, i've heard it suggested to use only festool bits, from a good source.i've Jerry's manual a few times. Good luck, it's a nice system takes some getting used to. Thanks Dan

Will the larger template work with 3/4" stock, even if it does say 21 mm as a minimum?

I have this sytem and the Leigh D4, although I love the D4 I always reach for the vs600, I use it mainly for half blind drawers, I use mine to make about 40-50 drawers a month, I have a OF1000 router set up all the time for it. I am thinking of getting something a little more heavy duty, like the powermatic dovetail machine, but its alomost $5000.00 It is so easy to use and very accurate.
As a side note, I have the Dowel template and cutter that I have never used, if anyone wants it send me a PM with an offer.

Regards

Paul

I have not used the large template but I can tell you this  ; If 21 mm is the minimum you (most likely) will not be able to use 3/4 " , you must use the smaller template. And on the small half blind template the minimum is 9/16"
The fixed space templates produce a "meat and potatoes" type of dovetail.  They are good looking with ample strength. But there is no adjusting of the length of the tails or the spacing. Each template set produces it's own size joint with no variation  - except the thickness of the stock. And that must fall within the specified range for each template set.
I like the setup very much and have made lots of half blind drawers and box joints. Soon I will be making about 30 - 40 more drawers and I know that they will be made with accuracy and ease. I'm glad I own the thing. I use the OF1010, CT22, and Festool bits,  and the results are 100%
