Vacuum Clamping

Reviews on the VAC SYS are all stellar and I'm not ready to spend $1,000

I'd like an alternative to the VAC SYS or $10,000 for a Barth vakuuLIFT  [big grin].

I just met a guy who used a venturi vacuum generator with a shop compressor and a set of vacuum pads. He said it worked great.

Here's what I've put together as a sub-$200 solution that may have potential:

Venturi Vacuum System from Infinity for $89
Set of PodZ for $83

I understand that this is not as elegant as the VAC SYS...

Has anyone tried a version of this solution, or either of these components?

Even though I find my vac sys excellent I was using some vacuum pods on my cnc before with good results. Just need a decent pump.
