turns out that woodworking is 1% making things you'll use, 4% making bespoke high end firewood, 15% cleaning, and 80% looking for the bl**dy thing you just put down

A bottle of CMT will clean that blade right up. Enjoy your new saw!

The short answer to "why didn't I get a 1.8mm kerf model corded TS 55" will be a combination of "the only 1.8mm kerf TS55 for sale in North America is the TSC" and "the model designation is clearly the TS 55 REQ".

The picture on the FUSA website shows a TS 55 FEQ, which is completely different. The 360-degree picture is the REQ-F. It's pretty much par for the course, unfortunately.  The package contents on the Recon listing would show what was included, and is the final arbiter rather than any image showing what is in the kit.

If you feel bamboozled, I think the best anyone has been offered is a return with "store credit" towards a future purchase.  Otherwise, all Recon sales are listed as final (see also: why I have an HK 55 and an HKC 55).

under the impression that the REQ-F was the US version of the TS55F with the new thin kerf blade. It even says so on the Festool USA website. Needless to say I am NOT happy about this. [mad] For the money I saved is just about going to be canceled out by having to buy a new blade. They should have included the new style blade brand new in the box. I left them a message today so hopefully they will be able to rectify the problem.

Admittedly, that site is a hot mess.  'Product highlights' (aka marketing fluff) pulled in junk from their new K series.  HW W48 (as spec'd) is a 2.2mm blade, as is your riving knife.  A thinner blade won't be viable for you unless you replace that riving knife - which isn't a first party option.

So I went to EKAT to see if I could take the riving knife from the UK version and make a Frankenstein. Guess what I found on the US parts catalog...

Its always fun to buy an obsolete model on day 1  [crying] To be fair it's not released yet but my goodness I would have waited.
