Hi all! I am quite new to the Festool world and I'm really excited to own some new tools. I recently got a ETS EC 150/5 EQ sander and a CT MIDI for a slab table job, which I love, and yesterday I went to my local dealer and picked up a T55 and a FS 1400/2 55" track. Beautiful tool!
My question is about track sizes. I think the 55" track is great for cross cutting 4'x8' sheets of plywood, but I'm finding it very unwieldy for cutting smaller pieces. Because I don't have a table saw or a miter saw I was planning on using this tracksaw for as much work as I can. Considering the expense buying it I would like to avoid any other major power tool purchases for a while. With this in mind does it make sense for me to pick up the smaller FS 800/2 32" track for use with smaller cross cuts? What are peoples experiences with using this combo?
When linked the 55" and 32" track are about 8" shy of 8', but I'm thinking in a pinch I could use them linked together for full lengths of ply and just move the track for those last 8". Anyone doing that?
