Swensons on WoodShopDemos
« on: January 29, 2007, 06:57 AM »
Rarely do I post others' pictures on my site but Per's first use of the Domino System was so fantastic (as all his work is), I asked him if I could add a Swensons' Scrapbook Page. Here is the link:
http://www.woodshopdemos.com/fes-sc-19.htm

He's not Elena, Andrea or Beth but he and Bob are so very real...

This is a sexy picture:

Per and Bob do extraordinary work...and I know that they are drooling to get their own Domino or three up and running! I have no doubt that it will become a critical tool in their arsenal.

Aw Shucks,

Really Folks, and thanks so much John,

we are nothing but slightly fancy run of the mill finish carpenters.

Ahh, but the Domino.

Check this out.....

Mating Bar rail has always been a problem.

We make it, soo...it ain't straight, rarely exactly the same size,

pick a problem and its inherent in this stuff.

What I use to do is just scarf this joint together. (nightmare)

Then some real creative blending.

I was even going to spring for one of those Lamello magnetic bolt thingys.

Nahh.

Now these babys are 12 foot long and weigh about 60lbs each.

With the domino today, cut the holes dry fitted them and

picked up 24 feet from one end. I am impressed.

Tomorrow after the glue drys we will have a look.

Hmmm...  If those pics alone don't sell an extra 50 Dominos, I'll eat that bar rail!  (Or maybe swig the Merlot.)    ;D

Per and John,

Stop It!!

If you guys don't quit showing pictures about all the neat ways you use your Domino, there won't be any left for the rest of us.  This has got to be some kind of conspiracy, left coast - right coast - against the middle, or something!

So,I couldn't wait to go and unclamp that barrail this morning.

Fellas what you saw yesterday and above, was what I saw, as

I clamped it upside down.

Any way........   I can sleep at night.

This is arguably the most expensive connection in the place.

One screw up, I would have to go home and make new ones.

Whatcha think?..........

Well, day-am!  That sure do look nice!!!   I think the number of Domino's sold by those pics is now over 100.

Hmmm...   If you keep postin' those pics Festool will sell out the entire US allocation in under two weeks!!!

Dave ,Dan, Les, Everybody,

Thanks for your kindness, but still....

Ask me to make you a chair. You are

gonna go home with a 30 foot picnic bench.

Carved and signed of course.

Wonderful work.  I was wondering how you registered the dominoes?  One of the two is not parallel with any edge it seems.

Hi Bob,

Upside down the rail is flat enough.

I just used the pins.

What I did do is cut all the large (8x50mm) first.

Then adjusted the fence for the smaller 5 mm domino.

Thank you.  I guess the domino works much like a biscuit joiner? Is there a lot of difference in operation?

Yes it is like a biscuit jointer.

As a Yugo is to a Ferrari.

Both will get you there.

Just not at the same time or precision.
