RS 2 owners in the US may need to paper-up.
« on: March 21, 2021, 04:34 PM »
While we're all aware that the RS 2 has been discontinued in the US, I just noticed that the sandpaper for it is now no longer available on the Festool USA website.

498944-498954 Granat
499030-499037 Rubin 2

Also note that the sanding pads for the RS 2 are no longer available on the Festool USA website.

483679 Standard pad
485648 Non-marring pad

And the sanding pads are also not listed in EKAT.  [huh]

@Shane Holland - Is this correct? Are the Granat sheets for the RS2 being discontinued? Can you shed some light in this?

@Alanbach has not reported the RS2 abrasives to be discontinued. We still have them listed with many items in stock, although there are some on backorder.

The RS2 sandpaper hole punch (481523) has been discontinued and removed from our website. @guybo

Thanks,
Shane

I know it's an old thread but does anyone here know if the RS2E base/pad use the same screw placement as the RS100, RS200 and RS2?

I bought a replacement pad (suitable for the RS100/200, RS2 as I was of the understanding it also matched the RS2E) for my roughly 40 year old first model RS2E, but the outer 4 corner screws holes are 5mm closer than the matching hole threads on the sanders base. The pad is 181mm centers while the sander is 186mm centers.

A chat online with Festool Aus said it was compatible, but I'm dubious as my RS2E also has 2 screw pillars centered on the long plane about 80mm or so apart which this pad doesn't have.

I wonder if the RS2E design changed at some point altering the screw placement?
