Hi All,
New to this forum, hope I am not discussing a common question here, but I couldn't find an answer via a search.
I have the old Festool Rotex R150E Sander, which has seen some very heavy work over many years now and it is still working fine. It has the oval dust extraction port and I want to adapt it to fit a non Festool dust extraction unit.
Is it a case that you have to jury rig something? Or is there an adaptor of some type? Basically the oval to a round shape to fit a standard type vac hose?
Thanks for any assistance

I have the same sander. There's nowt available comercially as far as I'm aware, but if your hose ends are easily removed or even just swivelling, then something could perhaps be jury-rigged with several appropriately cut to length & overlapped lengths of shrink-wrap insulation & a heat gun. Maybe wrap the exposed ends of the sander & power cable with protective layers of tin foil during the process to avoid damage.
I use older style Nilfisk/Wap/Alto & Kraenzle/Festo Vacs myself, which are Festo hose compatible.

I use Fein adapters (Fein Step Adapter - 921072K13) to connect to my oval ported Festoys. Unfortunately they are now discontinued, the only place I could find them was Tooldepot247.com, these are a flexible rubber...the new ones are a more rigid plastic and not as flexible.

For what it's worth, I've been surprised with the new braided Festool hoses and cleantec end actually fitting over the oval ends of my OF 1010 fairly well. More expensive than just an adapter, but the hoses should fit any other brand's vacuum fine and be a nice upgrade for a full hose.

I have a number of old Festo tools with "oval" dust ports. Could someone please confirm - would
Festool adapter 487071 be the correct adapter for connecting a 36mm Festool hose to
such an oval dust port ? I would prefer to use an adapter which is permanently on the oval dust
port to which eg. a 36mm Festool hose is easily connected and disconnected (one hose easily
swapped between tools).

487071 is just a replacement sleeve for a D27 hose.
For what you want you might take a look at 498528. But for something like an OF 1010 it might become too thick, not sure.
The tools that have such port, OF 1010, sanders I would rather not use the D36 hose. Too bulky.

No first hand experience here but I've noticed the Rockler dust collection hose ends and adapters in their catalog which look to be very flexible and may be able to conform to the oval dust ports.

You need one of the flexible rubber fittings on the end of the hose so it’s probably easiest just to get a new hose instead of trying to find fittings. the rockler hose should work and there’s also a Bosch 35mm hose on amazon that works with Festool connections

I used my Rotex with the Fein vac before I bought a CT. I bought a rubber PVC pipe reducer coupling and it worked well (not this size, and without pipe clamps).

If you know somebody with a 3D printer you can get one made. Thingiverse Link (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2388924)
My 3D printer is the second most useful tool in my shop. After me of course! Haha. I would make one up for you if you need, just pay for a bit of plastic and shipping.

I just bought an older OF 1010 EQ which has the oval dust port. I found a bilge pump discharge hose at HD that has a 1 1/8" ID which fits the dust port perfectly. It is a good snug friction fit and I was able to use an adapter I had to connect the hose to my Fein vacuum hose.

You can use the vacuum attachment for the festool (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200704/28c841c784a92d37a2b1f0eb5a4d597d.jpg)
