Well, some grass might always be greener somewhere else, but at what cost? I'm not gonna buy a Mafell saw and rails and then having to carry around two different types of rail. My jigsaw, my track saw, my routers, the LR-32 set; all use the same Festool rail. I don't see Mafell offering anything to compete with the OF 1010 or OF 1400, so their saw be damned.
Same went in reverse for me with the battery powered stuff. Festool had nothing to offer like Bosch had with the GSR 18v-60 and it's anti-kickback function. Using the hole saw above your head in ceilings... that function is awesome.
the Mafell works perfectly on the Festool rail. You just have to remove a spacer on the bottom of the foot.
