OF 2200 Accessory Kit
« on: February 26, 2020, 08:49 AM »
Thinking of getting an OF 2200 router and was wondering if the accessory kit is worth adding?

Thanks

@Mike Goetzke - From all my reading: If you're mounting it in a CMS, no. If you're using it as intended free hand, definitely. It seems like a must have for free hand use as it includes everything you need to get going.

I bought one for my 2200. Though I primarily keep in my CMS there are times when I use it by hand. Though I havent used all the bases yet there are a couple I use especially for use on a guide rail.  Im the type of guy that thinks I rather have it then not need it then to need it and not have it.

I think for the most part once I get into useing it for hand routing the  kit will b useful

Almost every time I use my 2200, I use something from the kit.  Haven't used it all yet, but as @jobsworth says, it's nice to have it when you need it.

The kit is expensive, but also invaluable WRT productivity.  I had the OF 1400 and replaced it with the OF 2200; the only meaningful benefit in my eyes is the complete kit of accessories.  In my experience, every project will call for a guide bushing or an edge guide or something at some point.  I wish something similar were available for the OF 1400 (and if it is, someone message me!).

The kit is a necessity if only for the additional stability provided by the "Widener Base" and the ability to run the larger bits the OF 2200 can. I'm embarrassed to say I have a lot of routers, but this is still my favorite to use.
