More packages with the MFT tables?
« on: January 26, 2007, 01:05 PM »
Hi,

I was wondering if Festool would consider offering more tool packages with the MFT tables, along the same lines as the vacuum and tool packages?  There are so many ways to buy the vacuum in a package deal, only two ways to get MFT table.

The MFT tables are only offered as packages with the TS55 and TS75 saws, but I can just as easily see the MFT being used regularly in combination with the routers, sanders, planer, and perhaps even other Festools.

Thanks!

David

I'll second that!  I just purchased a second MFT... now, had they offered it at a deal with another sander... you bet!  Maybe by the time I decide on a third MFT?

David,

Thanks for the question and suggestion. We will consider having more MFT packages in the future.

For me an MFT and Domino package might not be too bad.  I know I want a Domino but I'm still on the fence about an MFT.

This might seem like a weird combo.  I just bought the MFT about a month ago and I love it.  I am using it mostly with the Domino right now and for assembly. The one constant problem I have with the setup is the vacuum hose.  Between the coils in the hose getting caught on the table edge or the fence guide it's a real pain.

So IMO what I'm guessing would be a real good accessory when you use the MFT with any vac hose tool is the vacuum handle/boom accessory.  So I'd suggest an MFT/vac/Handle-Boom package and or if you want to offer existing owners a break would be just an MFT/handle-boom package.

Chris...

I also agree on an MFT/Domino package.  For accurate alignment the piece being mortised must be stable and the MFT is a convenient way to accomplish that.

And a general comment about package deals.  We've seen complaints about the need to purchase accessories in order to really use your Festool equipment.   It seems to me that package deals on individual tools and their accessories would be attractive.  Right now the Domino comes in a kit as well as alone so there is precedence for this. Example:  MFT and a couple of different style clamps.  Once the intro pricing is over, the Domino kit might also include the Systainer full of dowels and bits,  Vac/handle/boom/cleaning kit.....etc.    Just a thought.

Bill,
Re the vacuum hose getting in the way when using the MFT. - can be annoying and dangerous, so I use hooks, (make or buy), fixed to rafters (my 'shop is in a basement). Also seen other users try appropriate weight of bungy cords or even, in one case, a spring rule!

I like the idea of the boom and the MFT, it would make a great combination.  Other items with the table would be also be great.

Third vote for a MFT/Domino package  :) .    Every demo I've seen of the Domino has used the MFT  table to hold the stock.   I imagine it would be impractical, perhaps even frustrating for users to NOT use either an MFT or at least a vise equiped workbench when using the Domino.

I recently discovered this great forum while doing research for a Festool purchase. If I may offer my perspective as someone new to Festool who just bought the TS 75/MFT 1080 and ETS 150/CT 22 packages which I am (eagerly) waiting to be delivered. After deciding which tools I thought I needed immediately I naturally looked to combine the items in a way that made the most sense, and I probably bought more in one large purchase than I would have if I had to buy the tools individually. My dilemma is that I still have a wish list of tools ( OF 1010 EQ, Domino, Kapex, and possilbly a Rotex) that I would like to get in the next 6 months, that aren't grouped in any kind of package.

Rather than try to guess what people want to buy as a package (admittedly some packages make perfect sense), why not give a price break equivalent to the package for customers who combine a purchase of any two tools? It certainly would be an incentive to me to get two at once and use the savings to buy consumables.
Regards,
Jim

Great idea Jim, personally if i had a domino, i'd sure like to lock it up in a sortainer.Hopefully festool will offer more package options often they do seem limited and repetitive. I already have a vac and a table.dan
