Kapex ks120 lasers
« on: September 09, 2023, 07:49 AM »
Hi
I have a ks120, but its lasers are out.
I have tried realigning but both sit on the right hand side of the cut.
The adjustments appear to work, but although I can align the left laser with the right hand side of the cut, and the right one also with the right hand side, I can not get one to align with the left edge.
I got this used, and I do know the bevel drive casing was removed/replaced so it has been apart.
Are there any mounting spacers on the lasers? Or can anyone suggest what the problem is?
Thanks

My guess is that the bevel mechanism is way out of adjustment.

You might want to send it to Festool for adjustment.

@Phils , it can be a trial and effort to adjust the lasers and the instructions aren't very clear.  You might want to download a copy of the supplemental manual that is linked to on this page and try the procedures there:  https://www.festoolusa.com/service/owners-manuals#DOMINOJoiners

I always start with cleaning the lens.

Sometimes a video is helpful to people who learn different ways.  This guy seems to know what he's talking about:

(note: that was intended to be sarcasm.  He definitely knows what he's talking about.)

Hi,
Problem solved, last owner had put the adjuster spring back in the wrong place- the position setting spring, I took the blade cover off to examine the mechanism, and realised the spring was in the  wrong place. So in effect both were permanently as far right as they could go. Once I put the spring back to the side it should be on the adjustment for position worked properly, I am surprised it did anything at all before. I have roughly set now- just waiting for sun to go down- or a cloud to appear so I can set exactly…..
Thanks for advice.
I need to check and adjust all the settings I think, if this was put together wrong who knows what has been tweaked wrong.

Quoted for truth.  Once you found that, a careful examination of the rest of the machine is definitely warranted.  It could be a simple mistake for just that part, or it could be endemic throughout.  Good find!
