Hi,

How good is the Festool Vecturo OSC 18 dust extraction?? I am cutting a lot of holes in drywall and plaster. Always a mess. What can I expect from the Festool Vecturo OSC 18 dust extraction?

Unrelated but is there a sanding attachment for the Vecturo OSC 18?

Thanks!

If you are looking for drywall/plaster cutouts, have you considered the Makita XDS01Z drywall saw? I don't actually have experience with either that or the Vecturo, but the purpose built nature of the Makita seems like it might be a good fit unless you want the flexibility of the Vecturo also for trim details.

I have the new Vecturo, but haven't tried it with dust extraction.  The adapter gets pretty darn close to the blade and surface so I'd imagine pretty good extraction.  Especially on a plunge cut.  ToolNut did a video - I don't remember if it shows the extraction though.

Not sure if Festool makes a sanding attachment, but you can use any Starlock version.  I have a sanding adapter that came with my Multimaster 350(starlock) and works with the OSC 18.
Festool doesn't have a lot of Starlock accessories yet so look for Fein and Bosch Starlock cutters/tools.

Festool International has a recent youtube video demonstrating drywall cutting with the Vecturo...
18 Volt Training Part 3 ... the part you'd be interested in starts at about 13 minutes if my link doesn't work right.

I use mine all the time for drywall cuts.  Dust collection is surprisingly good.  It isn't 100% but cleanup is minimal.

I agree with P2P, dust collection is really good! I used it at a food store recently to make long cuts in a wall made of plaster boards. Almost 100% of the dust went into the vacuum  [smile]

I just tried the OSC 18 with my Fein sanding pad and it works really well.  Much better finish and easier to use than with the Fein MM - that made the pad really hard to control.

If you do get the OSC 18 and have big mitts be cautious of the on/off switch.  I've hit that a few times when going to pop the top lock.  I think it's easier to accidentally hit because the switch doesn't take much effort to move.  My Fein MM has the trigger in a similar location but it's much stiffer to switch on.
Or maybe it's just me. :)

I have the pad in that link, but not the dust shroud.  The triangle sanding pad came with my MM.

Thanks everyone! I will give it a try.

@jarbroen Are you using this one for sanding? https://feintools-online.com/fein-accessories/fein-mulitmaster-accessories/fein-multimaster-abrasives/92602091000-fein-dust-extraction-set.html

FYI, That shroud does fit the OSC 18 with a pair of rubberbands and a handful of compromise.   The round part seats just fine once you have the delta pad holding it in place.  The tube (which is a separate piece) has clips that are meant to snap into detents on the current corded multimaster design (350Q and on).  There’s nothing to facilitate that connection on the osc18 so you need to devise a way to keep it from falling off.

Thanks @yetihunter . Would you recommend another sanding attachment with dust extraction or is this the best fit despite the compromise.

The best that I know of.  There’s supposedly one for the recent corded Supercut but I’m not sure it actually exists.  I would imagine that the scenario would be the same regardless.  There’s nothing for the tube to mount to on the cordless units.

The dust extraction is pretty good. There is a plunge base accessory available that comes with a dust shroud.
I use the accessories on my 18v Supercuts.

Sanding pads come is three sizes (triangular) they range from a finger sander, up to a 75mm Triangle I believe. 👍🏻

I didn't pay attention to the release of the cordless Vecturo since I already had the corded version, so I missed any discussion of whether the dust extraction accessory (Dust Extraction Device OSC-AV) fits the corded model.  Does it work on both tools?

It does not.  Something to do with the redesign of the attachment ring / area in order for the new starlock blade mount. New diameter is larger.

The new plunge base doesn't fit either.

Quick update: I tried the Fein dust extraction kit today with the Festool Vecturo OSC 18. It fits but not optimal. (1) The attachment for the hose is very loose. (2) As others said it doesn't attach at the end. Both can be solved with some tape. (3) Another issue is that you can't use it with the big batteries or need to add another cushion. The vibration makes the hose damage the battery. I screwed that one but it's just cosmetic.

That’s partly on me.  While I do use the 6ah battery,  I only tried the dust fitment with the compact battery.
