HK 55 Rip Guide Question
« on: November 23, 2018, 01:20 PM »
I have owned the Festool HK 55 for a little over a year now. I have to say, I think I bought the wrong saw. I can see it’s benefits in the field, however, I think I should have purchased the TS 55 model.

The HK has some design features that I just don’t love, but that’s another topic. My question is does anyone use the parallel guide ( rip guide )attachment for it?

https://www.festoolusa.com/accessory/500464---pa-hkc-55

If you do, here is the main question….

Are you able to flip the guide upside down and use it as part of the sole plate?

Being left handed the saw without a rail is all but useless to me with no support being offered to the right of the blade. I am pretty close to ambidextrous, but even right handed you can’t see the blade through the saw.

I would like to forgo spending another 60 bucks on this saw if the guide doesn’t offer a solution. I figure as innovative as Festool can be, they would have thought to incorporate this feature into the guide. But, I just don’t know.

Thanks for the help.

The guide can be used upside down.

I too am right minded (left handed), I've run a worm drive for so long the blade right saw is my preference.
