guide rail connectors
« on: February 26, 2021, 06:18 PM »
just a quick one...

i had a friend who is good at metal work/engineering to make me some replacement screws for my guide rail connectors. he used hex head screws.

however..... he cleaned up all the threads etc so tha tthe screws turned super easily whereas before with the old slotted screws they were from new quite tight.

obviously now ive lost a couple of the new screws due to them turning out whilst the tool has been in the back of my van.

so i was just wondering if new replacement rail connectors come with the slotted screws that wear out or hex head screws these days?

looks like am going to have to order new ones either way like. but it was just out of interest really

cheers

take a look at the TSO Products connectors.  I have found them to be much better than the FT ones.  Faster to install, better alignment, and no dimples from the screws.  They use Allen screws on their connectors.

Agree 100% - one of the best after market accessories in my opinion.

And if you just want to replace the screws ............................  I think it is McMaster Carr that has socket hex head with nylon pads on the bottom.

Nah.

Just get a new Makita connectors set which is under $30 most of the time. Chaeper and bette than the Festool ones.

But keep the Festool ones too - they are great for jigs where you can cut them in half and use the half for attaching jigs to the rails. The Makitas are better connectors but cannot be used for jigs as the screws not through-screws and the plates are too thick for jig attachment.

My 2 cents.
